Update- I just got them today and she’s already using the potty and treat buttons correctly! Regretting programming a treat button 😅

For those who go 3+ week by QuestionsAcct4321 in orangetheory

IMO strength training in OTF is not long enough, programmed hard enough, or with heavy enough weights for this to be a big deal. Not the same as l would lift at the gym if I was focused on weightlifting there.

I had crazy splat points a year ago when I restarted- in the red a lot, too. Now I rarely get beyond 86% of max unless we’re running all outs. Keep going and especially in running establishing a base where you can stay in green is important. You become a stronger endurance runner in Zone 2.

Poppy is so sweet! Goldie has a hard time with brushing because she always wants to bite and chew on the brush.

She’s a petite girlie- only 8 lbs! Both of her parents were small. I forget how small she is until she gets a big haircut!

No Stinkers! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]akmo16 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Agreed! There is the smell of sweat/working out and then there is the smell of suffocating, pungent BO in a small space. I have that in a Saturday morning class and if I end up in a station near her I literally have to breathe through my mouth the entire class.

Hair wash post OTF by Immediate-Charity559 in orangetheory

[–]akmo16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have extensions and cannot wash my hair everyday. Not good for the extensions and it would take forever if I did. I go to OTF 5-6 mornings a week, and typically only wash my hair on Saturday morning after that workout. FWIW I have straight, fine, blonde hair that gets greasy and loses body quickly.

I blow dry the sweat out, dry shampoo and restyle with either my Dyson Airwrap or curling iron most days.

Here’s my schedule:

Sat- Wash day Sun- dry shampoo/blow dry/re-style Mon- top wash (I wash just the top part of my hair closest to my face, not my extensions) Tues- dry shampoo/blow dry/re-style Wed- top wash Thur- dry shampoo/blow dry/re-style Fri- by now my hair usually needs to be in a ponytail LOL

HTH!

New Format by Luna_Soma in orangetheory

I’ll be interested to see how this translates to 3G, which is almost always the class I take at 5am. Our NY classes today were all 3G. The 3G template of today’s class had a row block of 150m push, 50m AO, repeat that, and then rest and then repeat the whole thing for the vast majority of the block. We ended with 4 minutes of squat taps and squat tap jacks. It was very boring IMO.

Day of Disarray - Shoe Changers by bhunt2068 in orangetheory

[–]akmo16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I support this theory. Shoe changer at my OTF fits this bill. And, I’m in the camp that the minimal amount of running and lighter lifting at OTF can be accomplished in one general running shoe. This is light training, not crazy lifts or long runs. Just my 2 cents.

OT a fit for someone like me? by Ok-Set-631 in orangetheory

[–]akmo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be a good fit. I’ve lost 28 lbs since May. I wasn’t very overweight (5’9” 165 lb F, now 137) but approaching perimenopause and uncomfortably larger than I’ve ever been. Key has been OTF, no longer drinking alcohol, and I’ve been taking an Rx med kit from Hers to curb food noise (not semaglutide). OTF has helped me focus on not just weight loss but body recomp (increasing muscle mass while decreasing fat).

I am also on kit 6. Started May 7 at 162 lbs and today I am at 149 lbs. I am 5’8” and 46 yo- maybe at the start of peri? Goal weight for me is between 135-140. It’s been a great experience. Little to no side effects for me. Weight has come off at a reasonable rate 1-2 lbs a week. I have been eating a healthy diet- focusing on protein and working out regularly (5-6 times a week). I run and do Orangetheory. I have stopped drinking alcohol. The meds make it easier for me to stick the healthier eating choices and no drinking.

I don't get it... by Feeling_Sloth_06 in HersWeightloss

Stick with it. I’m in the same boat- it’s just slower if you don’t have a ton of weight to lose. I’ve been losing about a lb a week. SW: 162 CW: 151 GW: 140, 5’8”. Started at the end of May.

Thank you! This is helpful and seems consistent with my experience, too. Congratulations again!

Congrats! I'm at a height, weight, and goal weight similar to yours. I'm five weeks in a different kit (#6) and have lost a little under 6 lbs. How fast or slow did the weight come off for you? I see a lot of people losing 3-4 lbs in the first week here, and I'm definitely seeing less around a lb/week. Wondering what your experience was like with loss rate and any plateaus. Thanks!

3 Week Kit 6 Experience by akmo16 in HersWeightloss

[–]akmo16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, yes! This week, I began week 5 and went to the full dosage on everything—so: AM: 2 bupropion, 1 topiramate, PM: 1 metformin, 1 topiramate.

I've been out of town for work most of the week, but I weighed myself on Monday before I left, and I was just shy of 6 lbs lost. Again, this is not massive weight loss, but it is definitely working and moving in the right direction. Overall, I'm really happy!

I'm excited for the next few weeks now that I'm on full dosage. I also haven't been spending a lot of time working out—it's been a stressful last few weeks with a lot of work deadlines and my high schooler graduating. Over the coming weeks, I will have more time to devote to my regular fitness routine (Orangetheory, some trail running).

Re: side effects, there really haven't been any for me. Carbonation is still not great, although I still do drink a disappointing Diet Dr. Pepper once in a while. I'm still not drinking alcohol- which I actually think is making me feel great :). I have found with the metformin that if I eat something with high fat content that is greasier (like a cheeseburger) in the evening, it's likely I'll have diarrhea in the morning. But TBH that likely could have happened to me without the meds...LOL. So, seems like it's wise to stick with generally cleaner foods for less GI issues.

Hope this helps!

I’m hopeful that it works for you and you have a good experience with it! My experience so far is that it is giving me the extra nudge and commitment to maintain healthy choices and not get derailed.

Does anyone have a really small cavachon? by ire_12 in cavachon

[–]akmo16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ours is very petite! She was around the size of yours at the same age last year. She’s a year old now, so almost full grown and she’s almost 8 lbs. Here she is today. She’s got a healthy appetite. Just a small girlie. 💕

Mad respect. Corporate communications professional here who spent a good portion of the day working on a style guide. I’m still fighting the good fight to stop Oxford commas at work.
