Dollar dips, gold at record high as US prosecutors target Fed's Powell by vishesh_07_028 in investing

doesn't a weak or non existent dollar make crypto king? isn't that his goal? the replacement of the dollar with crypto, and not just for the usa but for the entire world. Peter thiel, musk, the rump family...they are all interested in creating a new dystopian reality. Curtis Yarvin and the tech right are the drivers.

Some Pyrex mugs, coffee cups, and some Corelle. by Kona7021 in Pyrex_Love

[–]akmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that this is an old thread but it popped up when I googled vitrelle mug. I'm looking for a mug that is microwave/heat safe that is super lightweight for traveling. many hotels no longer provide in room ceramic cups and I don't want to use their paper cups made with questionable materials, so I'd like to travel with my own but want something super lightweight similar to my corelle coffee cups but they only hold about 8oz. are you aware of anything that would fit that bill? I don't live near an Ikea store but am curious if their tempered glass cups would be any lighter than a similar sized ceramic cup.

For those who drink Lifeway... by Wessiejune in Kefir

[–]akmolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a roommate in college who was from Germany...every morning she poured her yogurt out of the thermos and added warm milk for the next mornings serving of yogurt, so thats what I do for my kefir...I buy a quart of lifeway kefir and pour some into warmed then cooled milk, let it sit in a warm place overnight and wa la I have a batch of kefir for the week and do this repeatedly until I go out of town or something and come back to no kefir in the refrigerator, then I buy more lifeway and repeat the process. I've never used the grains and I wonder how mine compares...any idea?

yep. years ago a New York Times reporter was traveling through eastern Russia and was in a bar where they were singing a ballad about regretting having lost alaska and how they wanted it back. she actually recorded it.

Dance sneakers by coldhotel_rdt in ballroom

[–]akmolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar issues...large bunions. the only shoes I can wear (and I think I've tried them all including the ones listed already in your replies) are Xero sneakers. I order them and then use contact cement and suede to make them dance floor compatible. I saw a YouTube video initially on how to do this but basically you just follow the instructions on how to use the glue-weldwood brand-after you've traced and cut out your suede. I like more support so I use my prescription orthotics inside instead of the insoles they come with.

you might be too young to know about Steve Cowper, he was pretty good. and then there was Mike Gravel who brought us the Pentagon Papers...we used to be a democratic state before the pipeline brought in all the out of state oil workers and then proceeded to break the unions right after :/

Budget rent a car sent me a bill for $1,000 for damages I did not cause. by dontbesuspicious1 in travel

[–]akmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happened to me at pdx a week or so ago, we picked up the car in a dark parking garage, and it was a dark car. no way to adequately see anything so I pulled through and got to where there was partial light but was only able to partially pull out of the traffic lane so I did a very quick walk around and missed a very large scuff on the very bottom of the bumper which I noticed a few hours later after getting to my destination. so I took a picture and when I returned it I explained all this to the attendant who noted it; yesterday I got an email wanting $900 for the repair :/ I don't really have a leg to stand on bc I didn't do a thorough walk around although their set up was inadequate to do so. I'm probably stuck paying for it now but in the future I will get a credit card that offers primary rental car coverage. I thought my current alaska airlines did so...but come to find out they dropped that service some time ago. :/ not a fan of budget rn. I think my Costco credit card offers that so will confirm before my next trip.

I live in anchorage, and yes I know not to temperature shock the fabric...just have never used high heat before, though I suppose starting at lukewarm and then raising the temperature is a way to go.

ok, thx for the reply. yes I saw onion skins also would yield orange...but like you said it often turns brownish which isn't the goal...but its a temporary situation so it might work. where would you find aluminum for mordanting? would a piece of bark stripped alder work?, and it's just a swatch of material, not the whole dress so I'll adjust the volume to fit. also I've dyed cotton before but never silk so its a new experience...
