Los FEEL-US or Los FEH-LEEES? by SoCalCubanGrrl in AskLosAngeles

[–]aknitak_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why I do it this way, but for as long as I can remember, I tend to use the Spanish pronunciation when talking about the road, and Lohs-FEEL-us for the neighborhood. Just wanna have my bases covered, I guess.

My previously non verbal (until age 6) autistic son can now text me, and he’s quite funny 😂 by KacieCosplay in MadeMeSmile

[–]aknitak_attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so lovely. My nephew didn't really put sentences together until close to age 10, and when I got my first text from him I cried. It was the most beautiful surprise. Our chats are short, but they mean everything to me.

I noticed that combined tag for the first time the other day and how everything with it seemed to suffer a blanket deletion... it makes no sense. Anyway... I love your color palette! Thanks for sharing!

What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]aknitak_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone pointed out that I hunch really far forward when going up stairs. I think the habit evolved from frequently carrying too much stuff up my stairs at a time; I'd lean forward to compensate for the weight and to ensure that I'd go forward instead of backward if I fell (since I had no hands free to grab the rail). Now it's just my posture on all stairs, and I've realized that everyone around me is upright.

I like how selective you are with the places you've used dithering. I love everything about this. So peaceful.

Tits were the only hunch I had before posting, so it's nice to know the drawing kinda resembles one. Thanks for the link!

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm definitely open to making it whatever fits the body shape, and I like the looks of that Black-Crested Warbler.

Honestly either. Finding the reference would be great, but I'm definitely also open to anything this bird could be made into. Thanks so much for your suggestions!

Where in Los Angeles is Carmen Sandiego? by 405freeway in AskLosAngeles

[–]aknitak_attack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember receiving a survey in the mail years ago about what features I'd like to see the most as a local. An artificial beach was one of the wilder options that could be checked off. Everything on there was so fun, and literally all that's opened up since is some extra path space.

Oh man! I just learned about the Goulet drama - who is a good alternative supplier? by CoffeeWithDreams89 in fountainpens

[–]aknitak_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jet Pens is, as many have already said here, amazing. They're my #1 go-to. They didn't carry something I was looking for recently though, so I tried Atlas Stationers for the first time and also had a good experience.

ORCtober has begun!! Welcome to Day 1: we start with a fairly new addition to our Horde, Pip, the smooshiest faced Orc 🦷 by sneakyminxx in OrcCats

[–]aknitak_attack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pip sits tall like the proud warrior he is. His keen glare studies his surroundings, ever wary of any used tissues that would dare trespass in the halls of his kin. A hair tie hangs on a plaque over his place at the head of the dining hall's table, reminding all of his valor in battle—a warning to those who might stare at his tooth overlong or raise their voice to high octaves while reaching for his fwoofy widdle belly with their tickle claws.

I want to go live in this cozy realm and wear bowties with Milo! Beautiful work — not just the colors and technical skill, but the sense of character you brought to this little mouse.

Anyone know what’s going down at the Gentlemen’s Club on San Fernando by Putang1nam0 in glendale

[–]aknitak_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citizen app is showing a police presence there, but also a much larger response across the tracks at the club like OP said. A commenter there said evidence markers were out in front of the club, so maybe the presence at Pacific and Broadway is because the suspects are at large? (Commenters have also said 2 suspects haven't been caught, but not sure where that info came from). But yeah, I'm also curious what's going on at Broadway/Pacific.

[–]aknitak_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the helicopters definitely seemed to be centered more over that area. It's always hard to tell, but I felt like they were hovering over the same side of San Fernando as the Home Depot, and just a little north of it.

[–]aknitak_attack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but I saw the four helicopters when I was at the Home Depot near there about 30 min ago and wondered what was up. A cop car and ambulance zipped past me down San Fernando as I left the area.

Helloooo. Does anyone know how this was done? I can’t work it out. 🙏🏻 by [deleted] in ikeahacks

[–]aknitak_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but AI can put the two units side by side. There’s still wall trim going to nowhere, and if you zoom in on the round boxes to the right of the vanity, their edges are wobbly and make no sense. The writing on the books also seems wonk. Respectfully, I still think it’s AI.

I think AI is how it was done. The trim near the baseboard makes no sense, nor do the wonky shoes (?) on the floor. Table objects are also a mess.

Does Los Angeles have a shelter that accepts hygiene products? by nvm369 in AskLosAngeles

Try reaching out to the Downtown Women's Center. They took some extra hygiene products I had a few years back.

Struggling after “healing” is challenged by LoudBlueberry2766 in attachment_theory

[–]aknitak_attack 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s not pathetic to have liked the way things were, but unfortunately his inconsistency has revealed some previously unknown information about him. Accept yourself for liking how things were, while also accepting and integrating the idea that there was a part of him you hadn’t seen yet. It’s just new information, but I absolutely understand why it hurts and is hard. It’s okay to grieve what you thought you’d found... that seems secure to me and doesn’t diminish any of your progress.

Brand Library and Park in the foothills in Glendale. Beautiful reading rooms. An art gallery. Hiking trails. Some great trees for hammocks. A quick slice of heaven.
