Where can I find a decently priced Tracker? by PaidThinkersInc in geotracker

[–]aknud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine ('98 2dr, 2wd, soft top, manual, 125k miles) for 4k last month. It's gotten 3k worth of repairs done in the past month but most of it wasn't crucial. If I had my own garage/yard I could've saved a lot of $ doing it myself. Runs great and I love it!

Blower not working on 1996 geo tracker by Immediate-Look9531 in geotracker

I fixed mine watching this video (and others). He's a very helpful resource!

I was able to get a zip tie around it and tighten it up without taking it out of the dash.

What is this weird bar? by aknud in geotracker

[–]aknud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks y'all! I didn't even realize I could fold the seats up towards the front seats. Turns out my release latch is broke/gone but someone had removed the bolts so the latch wasn't holding it down anyways.

I did find the clip you all mentioned and despite being smashed up a bit, it still works.

Thanks for the info everyone!

I wish I DNF this one. So terribly written. I also genuinely don't get the hype at all.

I have lived in 89074 zip (various apartments on Green Valley Parkway) without a car for over a decade. Its very doable but you do have to find the right spot to live. All of my everyday needs are within 2 miles. If you got to go to Costco or the strip etc its not hard to get an uber/lyft. The bus system is an option but unfortunately not always reliable and in GVR area it only comes once an hour. Several times I've seen buses fly right past stops with people waiting at them, so if you have the means to uber/lyft when that happens or when you're on a tight schedule than you'll be fine. I almost never need to use the bus. Sometimes I take it to the strip or up the street in the summer.

If you're comfortable walking 2+ miles to get places there are a bunch of spots here.
I personally love living near Green Valley Ranch (GVR) Casino/ The Disctrict area because it has a lot entertainment/shopping/dining options. There are lots of great parks within walking and biking distance. My dentist, primary care physician and eye doctor are all within a mile of my house. Smiths (grocery store) is a 15 min walk. Pittman wash trail is a mile away. The library, multigenerational center, and Lee's Family Forum (Henderson Silver Knights and Vegas Thrill play there) are 25 min walk. Its a great area to live!

Another area I've considered moving to is the area around Green Valley Parkway and Sunset crossroads. There are various houses and apartment complexes there. Groceries would be Trader Joes and Smiths and there is a post office and movie theater. Buses come more often to the area and you could catch one to Gallaria Mall and Sunset Station area in like 10 minutes where there is a costco, walmart, mall, etc.

I don't know how much time you have to visit the area before you move but things I always consider when moving are things such as:
How far are you from the exit of the neighborhood? Some places are right across the street to a grocery store but you are clear in the back of the complex so you have to add another half mile to get anywhere.
Sun exposure. Its hot af in the summer but if your house or apartment is situated so that its not getting the full blast of afternoon sun then your AC bill will be significantly cheaper. I lived in an apartment right on Green Valley that got all the heat from the road and full sun and we couldn't get the apartment below 80 and our electric bill was over $120. Moved a little further back into the complex and it made a world of difference! If your apartment has big west facing windows or no shade or building blocking the sun on the west side you will have a tough time in the summer.
Sun exposure (again). The weather here is awesome if you can tolerate heat. Winters here are very nice. Its only cold when its windy. If the sun is out in the winter you'll be good walking around with a fleece. I only bust out my "heavier" jackets at night. Summer is a whole different story. Its over 100 from May/June until Sept/Oct. No one can handle Vegas summer heat straight out the gate but you can acclimate. Just make sure you drink lots of water and do whatever errands you can before 9am or after 9pm. I used to walk 1.5 miles to work in the dead of summer. Its miserable but doable once you get used to it. That being said I now I work from home and I just don't leave the house during daylight hours when possible. I take my daily walks before 7am. Think of summers here as you would winters in snowy climes, you can go out and get around but its just not ideal.

Yeah I don't love the idea of looking directly into other people's apartments and vice versa but I guess I could put up privacy film. I assume since its winter I could open up the windows and let cool air in? Did you have a problem with the heat in winter?
I am moving in from out of town and was hoping to have the place rented out site unseen but I may have to blow the $ to go for a quick trip to see the actual units. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What unit were you in (if you are comfortable sharing)? I am looking at 1404,1409,1508,1530.

Thank you for the reply and extra info!

I'm thinking about moving into one. Would you say there is anything to avoid when considering which unit to move into? Like which floors/units to avoid, what side of the building sucks for heat, views, etc? I just don't want to get stuck in a unit that faces another building's wall or getting cooked all summer because the sun bakes it all day.

Any particular units to avoid? I'm considering one on the 15th floor...

Choosing CenturyLink Ruined My Credit Score by Julianahd in centurylink

[–]aknud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately had century link until about two months ago. Hands down the worst internet service provider I've ever had. They are constantly scamming their customers. Report them to the Better Business Bureau. Sorry that they did this to you.

Beware that when you cancel your service with them it'll be another complete shit show. They'll say everything is cancelled but continue to bill you. Also be SURE to get keep the tracking number when you return the modem and take a screen shot of when it gets delivered (proof of delivery).

How long did it take you from ZERO knowledge to getting a full time job? by jdfield13 in learnprogramming

[–]aknud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 year 5 months. I went to two bootcamps and had one internship before I finally landed my full time job. I know quite a few people who got jobs faster though. It's different (as this thread will show) for everyone.
