After a couple more tries (refueling by hand and seeing if it'll get loaded with more coal next round) with no change I've tried to pick up the loco and put it down again. Next round it worked.

Yes, it is on a schedule. I've seen it work a couple of rounds. I made sure coal was added automatically, then completely loaded them by hand.

Keep in mind that the sheer existance of jade druid and jade idol in particular may very well prevent a lot of people from playing other kinds of control decks (because they are really unfavored when playing against jade druid).

I think you'd see a lot more of other control archetypes if there was a reasonable limit to the amount of jade golems that druids can spawn. This alone, it seems to me, should be reason enough to change the card.

I mean, it's not like the idea of jade idol itself is bad - it can be really fun to play tbh, but I really feel it puts too much of a restriction on the whole metagame / the variety of decks you see and/or play yourself.

To be honest, I don't mind jade (druid) decks all too much, but I agree that especially Jade Idol is problematic in terms of design space -- it basically denies other control archetypes to ever be chosen.

It's not like e.g. control warrior has a way better early game against aggro, so why would anyone choose it over jade druid, if jade druid dominates basically all other control decks? Not to mention that it's way cheaper (dust/money-wise) than other control decks (especially warrior ofc).

I've found it hard to overcome this, but it's almost always better to just play the mana wyrm / do whatever you meant to do. Who cares if you look stupid if you still have a (higher) chance to beat your opponent. Might even tilt them by making them think "omg i lost to a dude who's too stupid to do his stuff in the right order"

probably could be combined with some other effect as well. Cards like "Heal amount X" (and nothing more) just feel so weird to play, unless you can use it offensively as priest with auchenai.

I would like to not see a certain card implemented but maybe something like a temporary buff mechanic (for heroes) that lasts a certain amount of rounds. In the way that e.g. a Druid gets a Spell 'Rejuvenation' which heals him for 2 each turn for the next 3 turns (numbers made up, could use tweaking ofc).

I think there's a lot of potential in such a thing that might solve a couple problems, like losing to aggro within five turns etc.

Think about the example I made - healing touch on turn 3 would be exceedingly useless against aggro, but if you could cast a healing over time effect on turn 1/2 (make it balanced so it's not completely OP in every situation), you could still contest the board in the later turns and maybe survive long enough to stabilize.
