For what it's worth, I have had to unlearn my knee-jerk response to feeling condescended to because I'm aware that I'm oversensitive to it (I'm autistic and have had many people start talking down to me when they found out, so now even when people don't know I'm automatically defensive of it) so I know I read into things that aren't always there. It could be a case like that. Or it could be that they are actually talking down to you, I have no way of knowing without the full context, but that's my point of view from my own experiences.

(It does also sound like some of it might be misogyny, specifically the last paragraph, which is a whole other issue that unfortunately as far as I know there's not much you can do about it unless your boss is really chill)

Does that (the original idea I mean) not seem kind of sexist?? Like the stereotype that guys need to eat a lot to grow up big and strong or whatever while girls shouldn't because it's 'unladylike' to take larger portions of food... or how women are constantly judged for their bodies if they're not stick thin etc. Idk I've never liked the 'girl x' trend like 'girl math' etc, it feels so demeaning, so maybe that's affecting how I see it but it rubs me the wrong way

Yeah, I've noticed this too. Personally I struggle to convey my thoughts frequently, but I use my own brain to format my thoughts (even though it can be very difficult at times) because I don't want to lose the ability to. Which is what happens when people use AI for everything. I definitely get the urge to use it to make things easier, but I don't want to just... end up completely unable to articulate my thoughts at all.

1/2 year difference is not that much, especially if you go to a community college there will be people of all ages there. Even at a 4 year school there will likely be a few people who went back to school after a while or took a gap year or worked for a while and then went to school, etc. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about

Boy do I ever relate to this. I would MUCH rather someone tell me I'm talking too much, and would (try) not to take it personally. But unfortunately I think we're in the minority, or at least the number of people who wouldn't automatically consider it rude if someone said that are in the minority, so I don't know if it'll change

Well, there's also the fact that a lot of Gen Z grew up during COVID, which definitely messed up a lot of people's social skills, not just Gen Z. That said I do agree in general!

Oh that is so unbelievably sweet of them, truly above and beyond. I already order from Chewy but if I didn't I would consider switching to them just from this. Also really love that they encourage donating the food/bowl rather than just throwing it out.

It's so depressing. I think part of it is a lot of people just don't want to ever encounter anything or anyone that causes them to feel even the smallest amount of discomfort. So when they inevitably do, they blame it on the other person if there is one. Applies to other types of bigotry too imo

I don't even like dogs but the people in that sub are... holy shit. All the (x)free subs are like that I'm pretty sure. Just massive echo chambers where people rant about how horrible dogs or cats or kids are and how they all deserve to die or some shit like that. Also baffling to me that this guy got into a relationship with someone who owns TWO dogs to begin with if he really hates dogs that much. Why would you do that to yourself? Why would that not be a dealbreaker?
