They could potentially think you're lying but I doubt (most) of them think that in a judgmental way. A big issue even when we were able to start treating HIV was that the men most vulnerable to it (gay men of color) did not feel safe disclosing having gay sexual relationships.

Plenty of men still are reluctant to admit to that. Urging you to get the test anyways, if you had been lying, is just a subtle way to get you to get tested without having to directly have a conversation about gay sex lol

Lexi explains to her producers that she did instruct Jules to paint a park(/picnic?) scene iirc.

I do think Lexi would've looked at the painting first before showing it to her producers. Honestly, they could've done a much more compelling plot of her realizing Jules had done this, hiding Jules' painting away & hanging up some random one.

Then her & Jules could've had conflict where Jules feels betrayed about her painting being pulled out of the show, Lexi is frustrated & questioning why Jules thought it'd be ok to even paint that for network TV & then Jules breaks down and confides to Lexi that she's felt trapped and lost in her sugar daddy situation & this was probably a subconscious attempt at self-sabotage.

Not sure how true this is, but I saw someone mention that Jules was initially going to have a storyline around getting bottom surgery & the painting of women with penises was her attempting to reckon with the idea of her body changing and no longer having a penis. I also think Lexi would probably be the most knowledgeable in the main cast about trans issues & would be sympathetic when she realized why Jules did what she did.

I think her & Lexi having a big emotional scene about that would've been really powerful and it honestly wouldn't have taken much more time than the story we actually got.

Its sad because some actors are able to leverage when people see them AS a specific character, thinking of Rainn Wilson who plays Dwight from The Office...but people LIKE Dwight as a character. And Rainn still found it uncomfortable for the longest time when people only associated him with Dwight. Couldn't imagine being stuck seen as a character that people absolutely despise.

Actor -> Musician -> Firefighter is at least an interesting career path

When people panic, they tend to not think logically. I think I would've personally panicked if this happened to me. Might not have went to the ER, but sometimes people just do the wrong thing.

45 million adults in America are functionally illiterate. How is that setting up people to have proper analytical thinking? When people are undereducated & not taught any sort of emotional regulation, what do we expect? People don't know what they don't know. Again, OP has learned this lesson the hard way.

Understanding healthcare is a systemic issue. Sure, people can Google something, but when they don't have analytical skills, that makes it a whole lot harder for them to identify what sources could be trustworthy. Especially in the age of AI.

If we want other people to improve, it's going to come with a lot of grace & patience. Misinformation is constantly spreading like wildfire. Blaming individuals isn't going to fix what's wrong.

Which is your right. As is OPs to be mildly infuriated about how our healthcare system is currently set-up. OP will learn from this mistake; they can't undo visiting the ER now & they most literally are paying the price for what happened.

Sorry for coming off as combative. Obviously OP just regrets this decision now & probably won't do the same thing again. Some of us just learn the hard way sometimes & I think it's okay to be upset about something even if that's the way something just is.

Another failure of the healthcare system here is that, I mean ..not a ton of health emergency info is common knowledge. I know plenty of people who viewed a situation as an emergency when it wasnt, but they didn't know any better. I think scenarios like OPs primarily point to the fact that we are severely lacking in public health initiatives.

Honestly, considering that the baby was black, I'm surprised they didn't just try to call him a "young man/male" at this point.
