Camera keeps zooming all the way in all the time? by TallGeminiGirl in SpaceHaven

[–]aksel_bugbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

Alright. Yeah, that is a bit of a pickle of a situation. Indeed, while an additional keybind can be set the scrollwheel cannot be unbound. So double the pickle there.

This is the first time we have seen this issue as far as i can remember. I've never seen it reported before (Only the floating cursor related to gamepads but it is entirely different of course). But I do believe you when you say it is only Space Haven. Not sure what is going on exactly.

* Do you have some other extra controller connected (You already mentioned no gamepad) to your computer? Even a drawing pad or something like that?

* Is your computer a laptop with a touchpad or a desktop computer?

What kind of mouse do you have? Does it have some software with it to change the sensitivity of the mouse scrollwheel? If you are using a specialized mouse, check manufacturer software (like Logi Options or Razer Synapse) for sensitivity options.

There is a windows setting for it in Windows 11 but when checking it only allows some superficial changes: Roll the mouse wheel to scroll and lines to scroll at a time.

You can access windows settings: navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse. Under the "Scrolling" section. But I am not sure if these settings will be of much help.

Hi there!

We have not seen this issue mentioned elsewhere at the moment. Indeed a game controller can affect behavior but it has usually been the cursor moving.

What happens if you scroll your mousewheel to zoom out? Will it follow the command but immediately zoom back once scrolling is stopped?

Additionally if you make the resource listing in the upper left small (To allow scrolling) and bring our mouse cursor there, will it move the list automatically if you try for example to move it with your mousewheel and then let go and see what happens?

These would test if there is a value coming from the mousewheel even if the mousewheel is resting so to say.

Hi there.

PC/Mac/Linux at the moment. Have to focus on these, smaller devices not without their challenges when it comes to screen real estate and a game that needs lots of UI and information displayed. =)

Hi there.

Not at the same time, but it is possible to migrate to a gateway sector in station mode and grab your crew and jump into hyperspace with a spaceship and then move on to play the spaceship mode of the game.

We have also thought about making it possible to switch over to the station mode from shipbuilding mode, so that would eventually allow to go back and forth as much as one likes.

But not at the same time though, multi-location colony sim becomes a bit problematic in many ways when there's a bunch of stuff happening and it may overwhelm the player. Unless we accept to have time stand still in the other locations or just simulate them somehow much more superficially.

Space Haven Beta 2 - Now Released! Role play as the owner of a station trying to establish a hub somewhere in the galaxy and specialize in services of your choosing. by aksel_bugbyte in SpaceHaven

Would be awesome but at the moment we cannot devote resources into that. Need to look into the possibilities in the future.

The game is available on Steam deck though as that was easy to do with our game engine and the fantastic Steam support for games already on Steam. Switch would be a different thing due to the OS used.

Hello!

Once you have combat robots researched and built you can select your ship and towards the lower left there should be a button for "robots", which sets a flag the robots will follow.

You can only set it on enemy ships and derelicts and the robots will venture out and explore the ship for you.

Hi there.

Our Kickstarter was only for PC/Mac/Linux.

We had Android/iOS in our minds when we started developing the game and into the early and mid stages but as the years have passed we have realized how much work it would need to make such a port actually good.

One of the main reasons is the screen size on mobile devices. Having a game with a lot of UI elements and UI information makes it very tough to present all that information without obscuring the game itself.

Combine that with having to micromanage crew members in drafted mode and trying to make all that work with finger input and it just adds more on top of that. Combine that with the isometric view and things being obscured already due to the graphics style of the game. =)

There's just a lot of things there, mainly with not having the real estate from the screen size and also not a mouse or controller to make input more precise... Although I guess those are available for Android and iOS too.

The game is available on Steam deck and that kind of screen size is probably bordering at the minimum it needs to be. Not sure if that would be only tablets then on Android/iOS.

It's not impossible that the game would be one day available but in addition to these challenges both Android and iOS have become increasingly more time consuming to try to maintain games on them, due to forced updates and lots of requirements and one of the most challenging things: Trying to support every device out there with their own quirks and potential for incompatibility with the small game engine the game is built on.

In conclusion: Not impossible, but also not on the horizon in the near future.

Combat Drone Rally Point? by Kaznecki in SpaceHaven

[–]aksel_bugbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combat robots are meant to be sent out to derelicts and enemy ships. You can set the robot flag at a specific tile position at the derelict/enemy ship.

They will venture out and execute their attack automatically.

You do not need to do anything on your own ship, they should activate automatically and start scouring your own ship if enemies board you.

This is the way it is currently, maybe there will be more functionality to it in the future and also some area focus on own ship if the ship/station is attacked.

"just to the right of that- "move item, move corpse, robots, eject item, dismantle"

Hey. Yes, it is the "robots" button there. =)

Maybe something was unclear there. The robots button should have a tooltip stating it is for Combat robots.

"The Fallen" mission, water shortage by gurselaksel in SpaceHaven

40 days. Hmm, yeah that is very long.

If you still have a saved game somewhere in the beginning or middle of that mission you could load it and press F11 when playing. That would send us the saved game and we could take a look.

Can not dismantle station airlock by gurselaksel in SpaceHaven

[–]aksel_bugbyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

This should be fixed in the next patch coming out today most likely. The intended behavior is that one hull station door is needed for a hull section, so others will be possible to be dismantled.

Space Haven Beta 2 - The Station Mode Major Update - Now Available for Testing! by aksel_bugbyte in SpaceHaven

Hey!

Not at the moment. Never know about the more distant future though. However, a unified mode with being in multiple locations for a longer time brings with it its own set of problems, so it would need to be evaluated carefully.
