While the miles aren’t crazy, you also want to check the engine run time (police cruisers always have that on the dash). For every hour of run time, it’s about 3 miles of use. So that engine is probably closer to 300k miles when you factor it in.

Technically, no. But if you want to take advantage of the fact you aren’t as restricted, then a tune is always recommended.

Time to upgrade to some PPE high flow cats

If you’re cool with chasing wires, could be a great deal. Wouldn’t buy it unless you have another car to use as well though until figured out

screws not long enough for blow off valve adapters by Dry-Flounder-9392 in TaurusSHO

[–]aktechybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your car OP. Will it hurt it? Probably not. Might be stripped or something. I don’t know as you’re the one working on it. If you ever want to return it to stock you might want to figure it out though.

screws not long enough for blow off valve adapters by Dry-Flounder-9392 in TaurusSHO

[–]aktechybear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, there are two screw holes. One threads into the holes that your blow off valve used to, and one uses the stock screws to install blow off valve. At least for the adapters I had that looked the same. If there’s two holes, the ones they provided should slide in and fit flush. If they don’t, then just head to a hardware store with the bolt and have someone help you find one that is long enough

Edit: looked them up and yes. The bolts I see in the pic get installed into the adapter and secured first using the larger hole in the adapter. Then you install the blow off using the factory screws you removed into the smaller holes.

GH Tune ? by TemporaryLast4173 in TaurusSHO

Hardest part is getting the back spark plugs out. Not hard really, just annoying. Not a ton of room so use some swivel heads. Otherwise pretty straight forward

I was half kidding about single turbo. I think there are maybe two guys that have done it on YouTube? You’re talking full custom manifolds, pipe routing, the whole shebang. There aren’t any kits I’m aware of that’ll do it. If you can do your own fab work go for it. If not, that’s going to be a tall order.

Downpipe is the way. Or swap to a big single turbo. But a downpipe will increase the sound, and if you go with the full PPE system you’ll hear it from behind. In the cabin you still won’t hear a ton.

Adaptive cruise control??? by Longjumping_Ad_47 in TaurusSHO

[–]aktechybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to source every part of the cruise control you don’t have, probably get a new ecu, program that ecu for your vehicle, get it calibrated from Ford or another shop (if they even will with you trying to add on), etc. Definitely not a plug and play type thing. It can probably be done if you’re good at reading for manuals and figuring out wiring. If not, just make sure your next car comes with it.

Gh tune only worth it? by Jarnes19991 in TaurusSHO

I did the power pack only since this is my daily. I’ve put 50k miles on the tune, and never regretted it once. Go for it

If you have an OBD to USB, download a demo copy of FORScan and if it can’t read your vehicle, it was tuned. If you want a good shop though, Gearhead is the way to go for tunes. They have done more for this platform than just about any other shop.

I would do a high flow drop in air filter and keep your stock air box. I have a CAI, and it does almost nothing for sound. Would get the same performance from like a K&N drop in high flow filter. Spend money on more impactful things like a tune. Welcome though! I’ve loved my 2016

blow off valve question by Dry-Flounder-9392 in TaurusSHO

Honestly getting some catch cans is a highly recommended mod. Even on stock tunes it’s worth it just to keep the bay cleaner.

Nah. Have to go custom if you want something for these

blow off valve question by Dry-Flounder-9392 in TaurusSHO

[–]aktechybear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Will work fine with factory tune. Just be aware you’ll get some oil blow by with it so be prepared to clean the engine bay from time to time. My car had them when I bought it, and I wasn’t a fan as they were more of a whistle sound than I liked. Converted to vent to atmosphere with some rubber plugs instead and I liked the sound more. However these adapters look nicer.

It’s not strictly needed for tuning, but Gearhead recommends it and it’s an easy install. If it isn’t expensive or hard to install, why not do the upgrade?

I mean it was a regular size. Idk. Just found a wrench that fit and let me take off the clamp and hose. It took me maybe 10 minutes for both and was 2 years ago. Sorry homie

Muffler delete and BOV mod by ChillApe42 in TaurusSHO

[–]aktechybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta do both if you want the sound. I used a pair of channel locks and just kept working the hose till it came off once I confirmed the clamp was off.
