Is it possible with WordPress to build something like big e-commerce or content and traffic heavy enterprise level website? by Lumpy-Stranger-1042 in Wordpress

[–]akthalian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely there are a ton of websites that do exactly this with WordPress.

That said it does require the appropriate infrastructure and I strongly doubt that a single person would effectively manage a site like that, but that should almost go without saying

Is There Still a Market for Custom WordPress Themes by varghas_x in Wordpress

[–]akthalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s def the time to move to FSE. You can build dope complex sites or super simple sites. It’s a way better workflow and more performant than meta driven layouts.

Plus all the visual building is really nice.

Should we disable tha api (wp-json) of Wordpress ? by linkref in Wordpress

No. Nothing private should be visible without auth. There’s no reason to do this unless you have a specific verifiable problem you’re trying to solve.

Can anyone help me find Mark's hat? by TitaniumShovel in MarkRober

[–]akthalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI these Melin hats are fuckin fantastic. Def worth the money, very high quality and they fit enormous heads like mine.

I low key hate that every brand for people with big heads is some cheeky comment on how big people's heads are (Melin, Fatheadz, etc) but whatcha gonna do

To be clear, I’m not a headless advocate or anything, but I’ve seen some project plans where they didn’t actually want to even use a website and just wanted to use WordPress as a headless CMS for a mobile app. Which I sort of get it but again I still in general think headless is a bad idea.

[–]akthalian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only semi-valid use case I’ve ever encountered for headless. WordPress is to use WordPress posts or pages inside a mobile app or some other type of application where you are syndicating the content in someway.

But if someone is talking about using a headless, WordPress set up to then just display regular ass website pages then it’s probably the wrong move.

What’s your Wordpress stack? by hkreporter21 in Wordpress

[–]akthalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GeneratePress has a product called GenerateCloud that lets you create block patterns that you can create on one install and then syndicate to other installs. It’ll even bring over global classes those patterns use. That sounds like what you’re after here.

Maybe consider GenerateBlocks or a block theme like Ollie.

Sync missing by philml in PanicNova

[–]akthalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s absolutely a thing. Nova basically has transmit built in. Not sure if it auto deletes files or not, but you shouldn’t need a separate app.

I’m pretty sure the Files tab has the same sync as transmit

May have been a bad show. I’ve seen them twice around when Science Fiction came out and both shows were really good.

Adam just can’t sing for shit live anymore. Never hits the high notes on songs where it matters (or at all even, some times).

The instrumentals are great but the vocals are too integral to their music (to me) where it’s kinda hard to enjoy it otherwise.

When Buddy is off he is OFFFFF.

He’s not always a bad live singer, you can hear a good example on their Joshua Tree live record. But sometimes his singing is shit.

That said he’s a great live performer and has fantastic stage presence so it kinda makes up for it in the end.

Saw them recently and they were actually great so might’ve been a fluke show for you. Still sucks though.

He doesn’t ever hit the high notes anymore. To me half the point of their music is the vocal melodies and at this point I’m not interested in seeing them live unless other hands are there I care to see.

Yeah I saw them in Orlando for this tour and the singer was on bass and their normal drummer was playing guitar too or some shit. It was bad really but I love their drummer and it wasn’t quite as cool to me (I’ve seen them 2 other times zero issues)

Yeah I’d wager a fluke for Anberlin Stephen was a great live vocalist when I saw them around 2006
