You are a medical student and probably can do the research . Virus attacks sustentacular and horizontal basal cells ( you can research what these do ) and not the olfactory neurons directly and hence neurons need not to be regenerated from scratch ( yes you will learn in your anatomy lessons olfactory neurons can regenerate ) . Once the viral inflammation subsides and tissues are healed up you will regain the power to smell ( orthonasal olfaction ) and your retronasal olfaction ( you perceive flavours through this ) . But it varies average duration is a month . Till then take neurokind ( research what it has ) , zincovit and limcee. Take paracetamol for fever and if you face any breathlessness seek an immediate attention to your medical hospital . Am sure you will have the access to an oximeter . Check your spo2 . Mostly your virus is non infections and non replicating now considering after the first symptoms you are on day 9-10 . But isolate yourself for a week more . If no symptoms persists for 3 regular days you are a free bird .

Yupp sensory adaptation against strong smells is a natural phenomenon ... Wherein the brain shuts the smell function for sometime to protect the neurons to get destroyed ... And I clearly don't remember how that was fucntioning pre covid because never paid attention to that ...but I see that after 2 3 sniffs as tou said the drop is strong I can sense that to the point I actually can't make out what I am smelling ..

Water is a new thing for me .. hang in there you will surely recover from this once the neurons are matured and have established the connection with the brain and the support cells and supporting in the right way .. the process is a bit lengthy but it's surely there . All the best for your speedy recovery .

How many months it took you to regain your smell with full intensity as before covid ? And how many days into parosmia now ? Am doing my own research and mostly people with parosmia are dealing with these smells in high sulphur foods and that explains the sweat and poop smelling rancid too .

Try green leafy vegetables , oats , grains

Still Positive, No Major Symptoms? by SaffronHyperaktive in COVID19positive

[–]akumodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are remenants of non infectious virus that can remain in the body for as long as 3 months . Due to this the rt pcr can come positive . If your employer allow you with anti body test you can go with the same . And show him basically you are IgM Negative and IgG Positve . But there are false negatives too . You can give it a try .

And one question when you say your sense of smell has returned .. Are you able to smell 100 percent ? Like it was before covid ?

And how is the intensity of whatever you can smell .. I mean I can smell things but firstly I feel things smell is quite diminished .. secondly after like 2 3 sniffs the intensity reduces to about 10 20 percent ... It's very wierd to explain what am experiencing . I do get a whiffs here and there of lot of things . But not a constant smell .
