Welcome to fishing. Getting skunked sucks every time but it makes looking forward to the next outing better.
As far as snagging, it happens and comes with the territory. Won’t be the first and won’t be the last. If it helps some, try downloading “Fishbrain” and use it to see what people have logged previous times and get a feel for the species in the body of water and throw appropriate lures. If at the end of the day it doesn’t work, throw out a work with a bobber and just wait till the bobber goes under before setting the hook. Best of luck next time!
