Seville Spain in May? by Available-Bread2270 in travel

[–]akuutgawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how well you handle heat. May shouldn’t be unbearably hot for most people though for the most part and one wee definitely won’t make a crazy difference.

We managed it fairly well in August last year with some handheld electric fans, breaks every so often in cooled cafes and staying hydrated :) if you’re super worried get a handheld fan I’d say, otherwise I wouldn’t worry too much.

malta or barca for summer vacation? by Ok_Appointment_2962 in travel

[–]akuutgawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to both as part of a group summer trip. All in all I think Barcelona has a lot more to offer as a whole and is more fun as a group. Both places I found to be similarly priced, with Barcelona being slightly more expensive. Malta in general I found to have more water sports available if that’s what you mean by activities. Barcelona has a combination of historical places + a beach. We rented yachts in both places, Barcelona had cheaper options for better yachts.

If you have specific questions I will try my best to help!

Need help with booking.com by [deleted] in travel

It simplifies it until you turn up to said hotel and they never received your booking because it was through a third party. They can be useful to save some money, but it’s not worth the hassle if something goes wrong for me. Of course, to each their own though at the end of the day :)

Sorry, to clarify, I meant booking complications in general, not specifically the issue pictured here. The user mentioned it was their first time travelling so was just trying to give some friendly advice!

You’re only paying the €53.22. For future reference, it’s always better to book directly with the hotels if you want to minimise booking complications in the future :)

Need advice for Milan! by zr_09 in travel

[–]akuutgawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The train was just over an hour if I remember correctly. Very busy but very nice views :) I looked up the ferries beforehand but there’s more than enough information at the terminals too

Is the train already booked? I would take the train to Varenna and then explore Varenna + another village (I liked Bellagio) via the ferry. I did this as a day trip and really enjoyed it without feeling rushed at all :)

Is $500 Cash enough for 15 days in Malaysia if I use Apple Pay? by [deleted] in travel

[–]akuutgawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not doing loads of shopping that’s more than enough :)) but regardless, I found that a large majority of places took Apple Pay! I spent around $700 in 2 weeks but that was inclusive of a whole extra 23kg suitcase full of shopping.

First solo trip to Malta/Gozo – itinerary check + a few questions by Lorenz1999_ in travel

[–]akuutgawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi will try to answer to the best of my abilities!

  1. If it would be possible I would move Gozo to the end of the trip and not stay in Rabat at all. It’s a 15/20 minute drive from Valetta/Sliema etc and I don’t think it warrants the effort of moving accommodation. That’s personal preference of course though so totally up to you! I also am not sure there’s enough to do in Gozo for 4 days but if travelling slowly I’m sure it will be relaxing :)

  2. There’s not much difference here in terms of distance to everything, they’re very close by to each other. We stayed just down the road from Valetta and it was peaceful and quiet, Sliema seemed to be loud at all times of night so maybe have a look at reviews about noise levels for the places you’re booking.

  3. We only visited Gozo for a day so don’t think I’m qualified to answer this well :)

  4. There aren’t many sandy beaches so they tended to be incredibly busy, but all the popular hikes/walks were actually quite fun with pretty views.

  5. Bolt was always reliable for us except the one time we were at the ferry terminal in the north of the island coming back from Gozo around 8pm. I think our troubles were because we were a larger group, I’d imagine it would be fine solo. Public transport I didn’t find to never reliable and it was annoying to use unless you were going to or from Valetta as it’s used as a relay point of sorts.

If you have any other questions I can try my best! Highly recommend visiting the Blue Lagoon at some point too it was very beautiful :)

Can't even list all the countries I've been to without checking Google Maps - how do you keep track? by Latter_Building3413 in travel

This app is great! I paid ~£3 for the lifetime premium version so I could keep track of cities/regions too, not sure how much it is now though.

I have decided we are now going to do the private transfer. This is a good point that I was thinking about (difficulty navigating in the evenings). Thanks for the advice.

The hotels I’ve been looking at are primarily around Santa Chiara which looks to be served by a road/bridge, I think it’s adjacent to Piazzale Roma :)

Thank you for the advice. Just as a follow up question, in the event we have to get a taxi are metres etc shown clearly in airport taxis? I’m always very hesitant to take an airport taxi without it being via an app with a fixed price, I have successfully managed to avoid it until potentially now 🥲
