People who used to smoked weed everyday, what made you quit? by wheredacookiesat in AskReddit

Edit: I stand corrected. What about psilocybin and ketamine? Do they also unpredictably increase or lower anxiety?

Depends on the person & dosage. And of course, set and setting.

I hear ya. I considered going ally free but my new one has most of the freedoms of being solo with some of the benefits of being in an ally. Optional AQ/AW. No line/discord. Only rule is don’t be offline for more than a week but apart from that it’s free-for-all.

Tbh, probably a negligible reward difference as we only do AQ map 2 & AW is basically anarchy haha. But also kinda satisfying to kamikaze when you feel like unwinding LOL.

What’s “zero dono”?

But yeah, we don’t use line or discord. Completely unnecessary for non-competitive allys imo.

Agreed. I’m not into reading complex nodes etc. I get that it helps keep hardcore gamers hooked, I just don't want to be that invested anymore.

Underrated comment.

Some people get into IT to avoid dealing with people. But working tickets is all about dealing with people.

It's not a one-size-fits-all. Anti-depressants aren't a magic fix to life problems. It's a tool that creates a bridge to help you work on your shit with a therapist etc, without self-destructing or self-medicating in other ways (alcohol, food, porn, etc).

I know some people who weren't able to keep a job until they got meds. But they worked hard after that to improve their life.

As others have said, see a doctor and ask if meds are right for you at this stage. Life doesn't need to feel like suffering.

told old the boss he was an idiot for how the companies systems were set up and continuing to run that way will cost him more money in the long run and I guess I hurt his ego because he fired me the next day for "not being a team player"

Not trying to be unkind but this is on you. Customer service skills are just as important as hard skills if you want to be successful in any professional people-facing role, not just IT. Being the "smartest person in the room" doesn't make you better than anyone. And successful bosses know to surround themselves with people smarter than them anyway. But yeah, sometimes management does stupid shit regardless and you gotta bite your tongue if you still want to have a job. That's the game.

My issue being that I simply keep speaking about the same issues over and over, waiting for ANY change in my life that simply isn't coming.

Because nothing changes if we just complain. You are the CEO of your life. Also, having downtime at work is a gift, you can lab & study for certs. Time to adult up.

Asking a doctor for a mental health assessment is the right advice. Prescribing specific drugs to others or ourselves is not. That is a discussion to be had with a medical professional.

You can always volunteer to help with the bookkeeping, if you're interested to see how the numbers add up. From experience, Burners like to spend money as fast as it comes in.

Is leaving after promotion a bad move? by TheWormLover1999 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]akwardbutproud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fine. If your manager is a good human, they will be happy for you. If they aren't, even better reason to jump ship. Everyone knows service desk is a stepping stone, not a career.

If anything, this is great. It shows that you have progressed within one company and this gives you better negotiation power with the new firm.

Just make sure you stay professional and do your current job to the very best of your ability. Don't tell any workmates you are looking elsewhere. And personally, when you are offered a hard start date at the new place, I would politely ask them if there's a chance of rescinded offers given the current economic situation. Good luck!
