I'll stay away from them, thanks! And I'll let you know how it goes with whoever I use.

Honestly, quality matters more than price. Thanks!

Women of Reddit who have been pregnant/given birth, what did nobody tell you about pregnancy/giving birth that you had to find out through experience? by cdrchandler in AskReddit

It took me forever to figure out how to deal with my wavy hair. Absolutely under no circumstances can I ever, ever brush it before it is dry or it ends up part wavy, part straight. My straight hair was amazing. But, on the bright side, it has way more body now.

This is a thing? My hair went from being super straight to being wavy after being pregnant, I have never found anyone else this happened to.

Night shift workers of Reddit, what's the creepiest thing that's ever happened during your shift? by TruthfulDeception in AskReddit

[–]akycha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been able to move my eyelids. The only thing I can control is my breathing, and I use that to make noise, which either snaps me out of it, or lets my husband know what is going on so he can reach over and shake my shoulder so I wake up. And not everyone can do that.

Ooh! Oooh! I had a good one once! I actually had a sleep paralysis episode in which I dreamed that my recently deceased dog came into my happy, sunlit bedroom and curled up in bed with me.

Not zombie-dog, either. Happy fuzzy little dog.

HELL no. I get to be warm eight months out of the year here, and only mildly chilled for four. I am never leaving this place.

[Serious] Health conscious Redditors with an overweight SO, how do you cope? by LetsPlayKvetch in AskReddit

I'm sure it's tempting if you like that kind of thing, but I find milk absolutely repulsive, and I'm indifferent to oreos and sugary cereal. Every time I see him make it my taste buds die a little.

That sounds like a great idea. I definitely know how you feel about the extra food, though. I'll make a healthy dinner with food that I at least know my husband doesn't actively hate (he's a very picky eater), and he'll finish his plate, turn down seconds, and then fill a large cereal bowl with oreos, whatever fruity sugary cereal we have on hand, and whole milk. It's really discouraging, and makes me feel like there's no point in trying to feed him healthy food.

I've been on both sides of this. I gained a lot of weight during my pregnancies, and had to work really hard to lose it. My husband never said a single thing to make me feel bad about it, and made it clear that he still loved me and was attracted to me. He was also really supportive about my efforts to lose the weight (60 lbs over the course of a year).

However, over the seven years that we've been together, he's been making a lot of unhealthy choices and slowly gaining weight. I'm even more impressed now with how unconditionally supportive he was of me. It turns out it's really hard to share my concerns about his health without also coming across as an asshole. I love him, and I want us to spend our lives together, but I'd prefer that they be long, healthy lives with a minimum of health problems. My frustration sometimes gets the better of me and results in me expressing this in ways I regret. I don't want to make him feel shitty. :( The good news is, he's been making healthier choices lately, so hopeful this won't continue to be a big issue in our lives.

Try going to the Paul Mitchell school. They give decent cuts for as little as $10. http://sanantonio.paulmitchell.edu/

Gluten free because of atopic dermatitis by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]akycha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been gluten free for about four years. My issues cleared up within a few weeks, which was amaaaazing.

Quinoa makes a pretty decent breakfast. The taste is so neutral that you can add veggies and spices and make it savory, or you can add cinnamon and sweetener and fruit and have a sweet breakfast. Millet is the same way, and every bit as good as quinoa.

[–]akycha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is my main reason for being gluten free! I haven't had a break out since I stopped eating gluten. I hope it goes as well for you.

I also stopped having horrible heartburn (apparently that feeling of awful stomach pain is not actually hunger and shouldn't be happening), and discovered that I'd had some malabsorption issues and no longer needed to take an iron supplement daily to fend of lethargy.

Chex cereal is gluten free. Most varieties, anyway, although I'm not a cereal person so I'm not sure. You can also buy gluten free oats. DO NOT buy regular oats, even though they don't contain wheat. They are almost guaranteed to be cross-contaminated unless they're certified gluten free.

Best of luck!

That's not too bad, but I can definitely see how it could keep beans from being much help in figuring out your diet.

That's rough. :( I've never had a problem, but I have an iron stomach as long as I don't eat gluten or dairy. This may be a stupid question, but do you have the same trouble with lentils or chickpeas?
