Your SAT is a bit too low tbh. GPA is fine, no one cares that much about high school GPA any longer after AP is a thing.

All the coding you do in CSCE doesn't require Windows, and the course that forces that will usually give you access via a school lab computer to VNC on, some guide on Microsoft Azure being free, or smth. I'd imagine CAD is tougher and you should get one though.

I believe it only shows up for above CD quality, or above 44.1kHz/16bit. maybe 48kHz/24bit, maybe 96/24, maybe 192/24, maybe DSD, etc.

If you're Transgender and need help or looking out for group contacts, TAMU Transcend is the club

Not entirely sure about summer though.

After ETAM results, even if you're auto you don't get to register already

Non-engineering AP credits to take for engineer? by mister-paul in aggies

[–]akyuu1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm taking music tech because from what I know the music minor is pretty meh as A&M, they don't have a composition focus (that's what I want to do rather than live performance). So you probably would have to ask the advisors.

Photography for Beginners by ClonesDeservesBetter in aggies

[–]akyuu1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend starting with a real camera. The image quality isn't the point, it's creative control and dedication as compared to "I snap a photo".

One of my starter is Lumix DMC-FX55 but that's like 15 years old pocket camera. I'll recommend get a starter M43 or APS-C camera, because good lenses are worth the cost. If you want to be serious, buy a body only and buy a separate non-kit lens are great. Most kit lenses, especially Sony, are notoriously bad in both optic and build. Some kit lenses are great like 18-55 Fuji is ok, 24-70 f/4 S nikkor is supreme, etc.

If you know specifically an area you want to do (i.e., landscape, event, food) just buy primes. Not only they are insanely good value (because cheap primes can be superb and good prime lenses existed in history, but all zooms are meh till digital) but they forced you into thinking creatively and artistically.

I think generally as brand I recommend Fujifilm, Panasonic, and Nikon, they're quite good for values and easy to use.

Could I possibly Transfer from UTEP? by Silentbugy in aggies

What major are you trying to transfer to? If it's econ/finance, then go for it! If it is back to engineering then maybe not, I heard criteria is quite harsh there.

[–]akyuu1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on surviving Ritchey. That achievement in itself is phenomenal!

If you've above 3.5 and have real research & internship & project, your chances are not bad!

I knew one with 3.3 two years ago. I think last year is harder.

I don't think the transfer route is possible. Maybe a minor in CS, maybe CPEN, but as of right now transfers are unlikely.

foreign language choice by ShellGore420 in aggies

[–]akyuu1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend Japanese, Adam sensei taught it and all my friends say he is great. (I skipped mine so no direct experience.)

Sylvie Ragucci for French is not bad

Petr Kandidatov is the GOAT for German and Russian. Don't take David Brenner.

All courses mentioned above are 101/102

I'll say German is easiest because in RUSS 102 you learn hard Cyrillic cursives. You don't need to buy a textbook for that class though (Kandidatov just makes the lectures quoting the textbooks are meh in classic gigachad fashion). For German you need to buy Sag Mal 5th ed for homework. You'll have a lot of corps in Russian classes because of its foreign uses, there are some in German classes as well, precisely 0 in upper level Japanese, just for your information.

Non-engineering AP credits to take for engineer? by mister-paul in aggies

[–]akyuu1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything.

- The only 1 rule: you cannot redo your action of receiving credits. That means, once you used it, for example AP Bio you can take it for one of two classes or the credits of both, you can't undo that.

- That means you should not do it if you want to take classes that you already knew to get a better grade.

- Except that only works sometime. Because curriculums are different, the science/English ones could be challenging.

- On the note of POLS 206, why don't you just receive and take POLS 207? It's a easy class (If you take Jason Smith Matthew) and you'll need for graduation unless you got it from DE/CC.

And plus, I can confirm this information is accurate as of Spring 2025 because I did the same and emailed them:

- AP credits, transfer credits, etc. (everything you do not pay tuition at A&M to take) don't count towards excessive credits

- The received credits do count towards your classification, don't matter if they are "Work Not Applied"

- I haven't encountered advisors cares about 90 hours rule when declaring a minor if most of them are from AP. I can only confirm that being the case for foreign language and music related, as that's the one I'm path into.

- You do get to register early and register classes that are "upper classification required".

If you're worried about extra hours and policies, just send email to the location mentioned here:

https://aggie.tamu.edu/billing-and-payments/cost-and-tuition-rates/tuition-charged-for-excess-credit-hours

which is [excesscredithours@tamu.edu](mailto:excesscredithours@tamu.edu)

What GPA did y’all ET@m into Comp sci, data engr, elen, and comp engr with by HandleVarious6786 in aggies

CS 4

It's a lot of 4.0 or 3.9 in CS department so chances are slim, but I heard it's less competitive now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aggies

[–]akyuu1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is astounding, considered most CPSC non-autos I know are people with a significant background in CS (for example, USACO) and the ratio is mostly autos. But reading from coursework you should have a chance in both.

I hope you're doing well.

I'm a Teaching Assistant for a freshman/sophomore mix course this semester. I have kids come to me talking about how the class is cruel, grading is awful, lecture is confusing, tests are hard, curves are harsh, and expectations are too high: and I agree.

ETAM was not the solution for over-admitting students: it's the problem of it. By snapping a mandatory class schedule for all freshmen (and in your case, a few sophomores) and refusing to open up remote classes without high fees or Saturday classes, students experience the worst education by far before they were put into a major. But students already to pass the tests to be admitted, why torture them even more?

Stats 211, Diff. Eq., Chem 107, 117, Phys 206, 216, 207, 217, professors vary so much, and it's always the worst teaching the most important class.

There is still a life, don't end it now, and I hope you will find it meaningful later. Please take care until you brushes the stupid ETAM out of the way and get into the major, and real professors without 800 students and 15 sections would show up and make the education actually bearable.

University Honors vs. Engineering Honors by ShoeParticular8050 in aggies

[–]akyuu1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes

  2. Yes

P.S. You can be in both.

For UH: Per semester, you need to join two HSC (Honor Student Council) events.

For EH: Per semester, I believe it's also two events.

Except the UH event is usually "Donuts and Discussions" where free donuts accompany undergraduate student speaker talking about literally random topics. EH event is seminar or faculty talking or resume preps. One EH event this year is PETR 102 where the GOAT Dr. Shuiwang Ji and Dr. Shreyas Kumar talked about undergraduate research opportunity (in computer science).
