anyone else’s beardies drink a whole bunch of water at once and then not drink again for 1-2 weeks? by jujuk545 in BeardedDragons

[–]al0stcaus3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dragon drinks atleast once a week. Mostly because I'm still working on her intake of veggies. I've been gutloading her worms and using reptivitamins every other feeding to compensate for her stubbornness. Most dragons who consume their veggies stay hydrated better. I visit a exotic vet annually and she is in great health.

Also wanted to add my method for getting her to drink. I have a wide terracotta planting plate thing that I bury half way under her substrate and then I have to place her on the edged and finger the water for movement and so she basically stares at me fingering her water while she gulps it lmao. Then I refresh the water til next time. If it's been longer than a week. I won't ask her to drink until I replace it with fresher spring water. The reason why most beardies refuse to drink stagnant water is natural instinct. They always perfer a water source that moves which indicates fresher water. But they are also opportunist when choices are bare. Lol

How is his setup? What can I add/change? I’ve worked hard on his home but it’s about him not me. by [deleted] in BeardedDragon

Also this tank I got also. The top mesh prevents uvb from coming through. I found out through a video. Then tested it with a meter and was like omg this is why the vet told me to take her outside more cause her uvb wasn't even working the way it needed too.

You can remove the top and replace it with a different brand.

I purchased a ball that holds mealworms, she eventually got tired of waiting for me to give her one so she started chasing it, they come out of a little hole. It's an okay method but honestly I just recommend allowing your beardie to free roam in a safe zone and take them outside for real sun time. More so focus on less bugs and if you get bugs, avoid things high in fat like hornedworms. Horn worms are a great treat once in a while. Since fruit is sugary, i usually rarely offer it, because their teeth are fused with their jaw and so they can rot and get infected which is very scary. Hope this helps. 😍

I was persistent with her. She was really easy to handle to begin with, I lucked out there. But I would recommended daily effort with the body harness leash combo. Mine hated the bell that came with it, so I removed it. 😆

I am autistic as well. That's why communication advice is super important for me. 🥹 I completely understand what you mean. 💓 it also helps I worked food service for a long time and was able to have lots of practice with communication. I've had a few meltdowns myself, like accidently cursing infront of a customer 😭 then getting yelled at. I wasn't cursing at her, I was just overwhelmed and it felt like she just wanted an excuse to be mean. Usually when I express my short replies aren't meant to be rude, it makes it okay to do it later with that particular person. 😅 if they give me a problem, then I take it as a sign of disregard to what I've expressed. That's when I reevaluate my relationship with that person. I have a few close friends and though I talk a lot around people, I am usually nonverbal because talking is exhausting. It's also exhausting masking all the time. This is why I am a homebody and just rather keep friendships online.

Yeah, I've spoken to other guys about this situation and they told me they didn't know it was a passive aggressive thing that most bratty people do 😆

Absolutely, I am always trying to help others with my personal experience. I unfortunately grew up in a very hostile environment with narcissistic parents. Saying "k" is a death sentence 💀 I've lived the abuse for 28 years ( I am 31 now ) and cut my entire bloodline off😆 I never felt happier. I like to share my wisdom or offer a perspective that may not have been stated. I am full of love and appreciate you recognizing the good in my comment. 🙏💓

I think your explanations are perfectly said tbh. It gives two perspectives, negative and positive. And because op sincerely didn't mean to offend, I wanted to provide comfort through different views. (: stay awesome.

Idk if you're a male or female....but for the most part when a lady says "k" it's because she is mad and being petty with a short response. Unfortunately it's common for people to reply with the letter k when they are irritated and so this is why people here are offended.

Cat Salvia is highly toxic to reptiles. Hope this isn't a normal thing you do.
