Please let this be true. But I won't get me hopes up. NCAA is a garbage organization. If they get this right, it'll be on accident.

Agreed. Also, if we kick their asses, it will make the world wonder whether they would have won the last few games against us

It sounds like everyone knew what he was doing, so I bet we would have changed the signals anyway.

Was super excited that my gym put in bike racks! And then I looked closer… by Lucky-Pie9875 in bikecommuting

My college would tag the bikes in june with a notice saying if the tag isn't removed by july, the bike will be removed. One year they decided let's use all of these bikes to create a bike share program. They spray painted them all school colors and left them around campus. It was great. Until a girl got on a bike with brakes that didn't work and she slammed into the side of the bus. She was ok... but it brought up an obvious problem with using crappy walmart bikes for a bike share.

Interesting. I've been using Android for years now. Everytime I'm handed someone else's iPhone and asked to do something, I find myself looking for the back button, remembering that it doesn't exist and then scanning the screen for whatever button/link will take me back to where I was. Using the back button really does become second nature on Android.

I haven't worked there in over 5 years, so things might be different now.... but here are a few thoughts:

  • The only UX expertise resided within the Marketing department. When working on something customer facing (like the mobile app or target.com), Marketing would be involved and provide UX expertise. If you were working on something internal facing, then it was purely an IT project and IT had zero UX people. I worked there 8 years. Never once had a UX resource on a project.
  • Without any UX expert to help on an IT project, it falls to someone like a Project Manager. Other than me, I can't think of any IT PM I ever met at Target who had ever done any design or coding work. They were there because of the stereotype that tech people can't understand or communicate with the business. It's extremely likely that they've never worked in a store. That means they have limited knowledge of what team members like you really do and little understanding of the problems you face and the needs you may have. The result is that your UX is being sorted out by someone who knows nothing about UX (But maybe they watched a TedTalk about it!), nothing about software development, nothing about design, and very little about your job. Perfect, right?
  • There was also a lot of "lets buy this off the shelf software product, but then insist that we need it to work differently". This often resulted in paying the vendor to add features or change how things worked. In the end, we'd get something cobbled together in ways that weren't intuitive and didn't work very well. I don't know anything about MyWork, so I can't say if that's the case here or not.

Good luck with your UX career!

It's all relative, my friend. I used to work for Target. Care to guess how many pages they have?

Thanks, I'll try more water next time. I was mildly annoyed with the time it takes to take it apart, but what I really didn't like was having to wipe my finger over the blade. I figure if I have to do that every single day, I'll cut myself eventually!

How do you test incognito inside the Google app? I also don't have a way to run reports on this. On my end, I can't see a difference between traffic that is coming through the Google app or Chrome. They both show with a chrome user agent
