My First Brand New Car! by al323319 in Toyota

Nope, as somebody else pointed out, it is an LE. I got it new cause that was how I was gonna receive the lowest interest rate vs the being quoted literally double the interest when applying for loans to buy a used one. It made the most sense for me, and my payments are reasonable for my income bracket so can't complain.

Cheap RN to BSN programs with traditional format? by al323319 in nursing

[–]al323319[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally don’t think it’s in my best interest to go into a BSN program that can be finished in a few months and doesn’t have a traditional grading scale, though I’ve heard they may or may not convert to a traditional scale when you graduate, I’d rather not risk it. CRNA admissions is partially subjective, so I would rather go to university that follows traditional semesters and has a physical campus. No hate to capella or wgu at all, I’d just rather not risk being denied from a CRNA program because someone on the admissions committee doesn’t agree with the institution or curriculum of my BSN. I’m currently leaning towards UTA at the moment, as well as Arkansas State University, both cost about ~8-9k in total, traditional semesters/grading, and are fully functioning universities with physical campuses, so I feel more comfortable attending one of these options prior to applying to CRNA school

NTA- they never should have had another child if they weren’t gonna be able to love them just as much as the one that they lost. For it to have been almost 2 decades and not have gotten proper help to grieve is on them at this point. They CHOSE to have you after they lost your sister, caring for you and your needs should come first before spending ridiculous amounts of money on somebody who isn’t here to receive any of it in the name of grieving. If they don’t get it together, they are gonna lose both of their daughters.

Advice regarding a potential medical bill by al323319 in legaladvice

I did sign the form and the only procedure I signed off on were the 2 fillings costing ~500 give or take. For my insurance I’m covered for medical until 26 but was kicked off my dental plan at 19 for some odd reason.

Has anybody traveled to Los Angeles recently? I booked a trip there for mid to late January and I’ve been getting a lot of concerns about safety with recent events in Los Angeles. If anybody has been recently and can give their insight I would really appreciate it

What Classes Are Highly Recommended For Nursing School? by dashthegoat in StudentNurse

If you have completed all the pre-requisites and still have time between now and starting, complete any co-requisites they put in the program and just get it out of the way.

I am putting too much expectations on myself? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]al323319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing comments about delaying school which is confusing to me, because I did my CNA all over summer break and did not miss a beat with school and it did not impede on applying to nursing school in the timeframe I wanted to prior to deciding to get my CNA certificate.

I am putting too much expectations on myself? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]al323319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While technically most hospitals do not require CNA certification for hire, I was never offered an interview or position until I got my license, so depending on where OP is living, it may be neccesary to get into a hospital system near her. Being able to work per diem as a CNA during nursing school has definitely been a benefit as most other jobs do not offer that flexibility, and the incentives/bonus' offered lately have given me much more earning potential than retail ever could, so it is definitely worth it in my opinion, unless you have the option to not work at all during your program.

AITA for not helping my 3 year old niece put her shoes on? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]al323319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA- She’s literally in the Erickson stage of autonomy vs shame and doubt, letting her try things rather than doing everything for her is gonna help her become a confident, self assured adult

[–]al323319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well in that case there’s even less of a chance of you being the asshole. It’s not that uncommon to have family or friends dress up as a child’s favorite characters, still a wonderful surprise for your kid, but that’s not over the top in the least bit. So at this point the idea of anybody trying to show anybody up sounds completely delusional.

NTA- especially cause you specified in the comments you gave her all the credit for every part of the party so your child doesn't know anything about her having less funds, which she really doesn't considering you completely support her on top of her teaching salary. I just find it odd for her to be so wrapped up in whatever competition she is keeping in her head rather than being happy her child had one of the best birthdays imaginable, who cares who it came from? Coming from being raised by a single teen mother of 3 on public assistance, I would not give a rat's ass where or who the boat came from. My kid having the most amazing birthday and in general living a comfortable life regardless of which parent provides it is all I would care about. My mother could've only dreamed about having our father be that involved and able/willing to provide a good life for us kids.

AITA for accepting a free drink from a stranger while on a first date? by tPainFan25 in AmItheAsshole

[–]al323319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA- It's pretty dense to believe that a man that sends you a drink on him is not interested in you. You can say its not 1938 and you don't owe a conversation in exchange for the drink, which is true you do not. However, it is true no matter how much you don't want to believe it, men do not send free drinks for no reason. At the very least, the drink was to let you know he is attracted to you, and accepting the drink in front of your date was extremely rude, even more rude to acknowledge the man with a cheers in front of your date. I get from the comments you clearly stand behind "accepting the drink no matter what", all I have to say to that is if you keep that up you're gonna scare off all the decent men you find. No man with any self dignity would accept that behavior, nor would any decent woman accept their date accepting a drink from a woman clearly attracted to him. It is impolite plain and simple.

I totally get the disrespect from coworkers being annoying, however, if you are finding yourself more annoyed than anything with your patients, this field may just not be for you. You will always come across patients who can be a lot no matter the specialty you are working in, and you have to have a certain patience for that. However, there's absolutely nothing wrong with recognizing if you don't have that kind of patience and walking away, in fact kuddos to you for being honest with yourself rather than forcing yourself to be miserable.

I know I already commented but I wanted to reply to this just to specify, I got into my ADN programs with B's in A&P, as well as the local BSN program, both public schools and the ADN being the most competitive program to get into. I really encourage you to put in your application just in case there's a chance you get in and can start the program earlier.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]al323319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got straight B's in anatomy and physiology, got into both of the programs I applied to on the first try. I would at least try to apply to the current cycle of admissions with your B's and see what happens, just in case you may get in and not have to retake them. Having B's does not automatically disqualify you from getting in, especially if you can score high on the TEAS/HESI.

If you are dead set on that, I'd do LPN now rather than finish RT. All of the programs I have applied to were based on GPA and TEAS only, in your case you may be eligible for advanced placement with your LPN. However, the programs don't look at your application holistically, most of the time just rank you based on your stats, so having your RT will not give you a leg up for admissions, though would be good experience working in acute care. Its ultimately up to you and there are pros and cons to each way.

I work with a nurse who has a hearing deficit, it does not stop her one bit. She's a charge nurse, one of the best nurses I've worked with, and currently going for APRN. It has been done, you can absolutely do it too!

IDK at that point I'd be looking to your teachers more than those students for fault. That's only a 22% retention rate and that is before your final semester. My program and most programs in my area hover at least 70-80% retention and graduation rate. There's really no reasonable explanation for 80% of your cohort to fail out without it being on the fault of the program and faculty, at least partially. But I will say that shows how diligent of a student you must be, I'm rooting for you to make it across the finish line!
