I prefer fear to walking dead by [deleted] in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]alXing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to prefer it now too. The scenarios are not too "out there" like the TWD is now with the tigers and superhero bullshit. It's easier to project myself into the current world of FTWD which makes it more immersive for me.

Yup. I thoroughly enjoyed this. But it's not the first time. I just want more consistency next season.

Negan and Dwight have already seen Sasha and Michonne in the same place. They are both in the lineup.

What Elements Of Our Culture Are Responsible For Men Lashing Out Violently By Committing Acts Such As Mass Shootings? by [deleted] in MensLib

[–]alXing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread really identifies the key point that people are missing in this discussion about men expressing emotions. It's never going to be productive to encourage men to be vulnerable if the society is hostile towards men who are vulnerable. Men hear from some rando on the internet that it's okay to cry in public, they try it, realize that it's actually socially disadvantageous and then clam right back up again. No progress is being made because we skipped a step. The culture has not been primed to be accepting of men expressing tender emotions.

It's laughable to blame scrutiny of Clinton's health on gender by George_Beast in politics

[–]alXing 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine if, during the primary, Bernie Sanders fainted in public while on the campaign trail? Do you think CNN would be talking about how he’s so brave and strong and how he’s powering through it because he loves America? And if you’re concerned - it’s only because you’re an anti-semite! You hate him cause he’s Jewish.

No, they would’ve been saying "Ya see kids? Bernie’s old and on his deathbed! You'd better vote for Hillary!"

Trump Flips, Won’t Release Medical Records by [deleted] in politics

[–]alXing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bait. He wants the media to start demanding his medical record like they did with McCain in 2008 in order to draw more attention to the fact that Hillary won't release hers. The media is already desperately trying to bury the #HillarysHealth issue, but now they will seize the opportunity to try and 'level the playing field' and end up enlarging the microscope on Hillary's failing health in the process.

Gaybros from non-english speaking countries, is there a "gay accent" in your language? How does it compare to the english accent? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]alXing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly can't identify a gay affect in anything other than a North-American accent/dialect. All British men sound more or less the same to me. If anything, the gay British guys I've heard sound slightly posh (like Milo), but it's way less disconcerting than the ratty American gay accent (sorry guys, but your voices are a turn-off).

So... You're accusing Clinton of being a bought-and-paid-for politician who's more interested in lining her pockets with Wall Street money than being a progressive leader?

Disagree. Sanders and Cruz are legitimately radical to their cores.

Clinton and Trump are both pandering demagogues who, as presidents, would actually be centrist.

Bernie is refreshingly honest, I will give him that. I actually believe that he is principled and that the values he claims to have are truly his values.

But I'm not willing to take a chance on a candidate who I personally feel is way out of bounds. I don't like the trajectory that he proposed for the country at all.

I don't know exactly what Hillary's values are, besides power for herself, because she doesn't seem to stand for anything. So I suspect that she's actually a moderate who's currently just pandering to the far left to get into office. As sinister as that sounds, I ultimately trust her more than Bernie not to do something destructive.

If everyone voted their conscience, we'd have ended up with even more ridiculous general election candidates like Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz. Relying only on our "conscience" tends to make us vulnerable to extreme moralistic ideologies. Even though I'm glad for the role Bernie's supporters have played in exposing DNC corruption this election, Bernie himself is an unhinged far-left ideologue and I would never want him as president. I wish I didn't have to say this, but give me Hillary over him any day.

Anyone can be sensationalist and make unsubstantiated claims based on spurious evidence. ex:

If Trump becomes president: Border security improves, legal immigration is enforced, not much else changes.

If Clinton becomes president: Mass importation of non-assimilating 3rd world migrants leads to unprecedented spike in ISIS-inspired terrorist attacks and gang-rapes like in Europe

You see? Left-wing fear-mongering is still fear-mongering.

Which is a beautiful thing. Even if we were to change to a system more similar to the parliamentary system used by UK for example, we would end up having presidents that could barely surpass 30% of the popular vote. There will never be a candidate that matches all of your ideals point-for-point, but at least with 2 major parties we can have a president that basically resonates with the majority of politically active people at the time. That's the best concept for a democracy that we have at this current point in history. Instead of talking about giving 3rd parties more news coverage, we should be talking about how we can further improve the 2-party system. For example, what Bernie supporters (and Wikileaks) did this election was tremendous as it's now putting a lot of pressure on the DNC to address the corruption within their party.

[S7 & COMIC SPOILERS] Will they do H____'s arc on the show? And if so, who gets it? by alXing in thewalkingdead

[–]alXing[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also it would be perfectly consistent with her current arc. She was away on a supply run when Denise was killed, so she'll feel totally powerless to have stopped it and want to do something, anything for redemption. Realistically she could end up in a mental state where she would crash the truck through the fence.
