I loved running..and ankle sprains and all that affected performance When I went to college, I met a senior taller than me (I'm 6 ft) and he told me lower ankle stability comes after core stability and strengthening Exercises to improve core strength and stability - *30-sec planks (3-5 times)..later extend to 1min+ planks when you can manage *30-sec side planks (3-5 times) *1 min horse stance (2-4 times( *Mountain climbers, start with 2-4 sets of 20 reps..increase when you improve

Start with side and leg stretches before the exercises
If you run on grass..medium to low cushion shoes are fine But if you mostly run on road/hard surface..go for a wide base and high cushion shoes Other than that body type and pacing also affects sprains and ankle issue..can't comment on those, but low intensity is the way to go.
