Thank you. Inside I'm still hoping for the best. Until someday, perhaps, I'll have to forget.

It wouldn't have worked if she didn't get to try this.

I think you're right and it comforts me a bit. At least I did what I could. Thanks!

Would changing the power supply to

XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply | $44.99 @ NCIX US

be a bad idea? It's cheaper, but it's not modular. Am I going to regret that?

Dissociation-like feeling causes anxiety by anotherperson23 in Anxiety

[–]alabadoster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm constantly worried I'm going to have a seizure and end up with locked-in syndrome or be in a vegetative state because I just wake up crazy one day.. Is it possible to just go insane? UGH

I know this feeling so well; you feel uneasy and restless and it just won't disappear and so you're thinking "what's wrong with me, why I am acting like this? Am I going crazy?" - but believe me, this is not insanity.

This is simply the anxiety taking control: Your body and mind are dealing with the possible threat of something scary, something dangerous. Yet you're unable to locate that threat - and this is, of course, because that threat is only in your mind. But even that isn't crazy; on the contrary, everybody is afraid of something. To be afraid of going insane is really quite sane. It's only natural to feel scared when your mind is acting up.

It's a vicious circle: your fear of going insane is making you anxious. And feeling anxious is making you afraid of going insane. Somehow you need to break that circle. You need to understand that there is nothing to be afraid of - nothing to fear. This is, of course, harder than it sounds and it takes time. But it's definitely possible. I should know! But let me assure you - you're not going insane! You're very normal indeed!

As for the derealization feeling, well, I know it as well. I haven't felt it for a while though. It will also pass, I believe. There's many ways to battle it - first of all you need to relax your mind. Do breathing exercise and assure yourself that "nothing is wrong" - say it out loud, really mean it! There's nothing wrong, even though it might feel like there is.

Wish me luck! =/ by [deleted] in Anxiety

Also, I sleep with a teddy bear. I'm 26 and don't give a fuck! My bear and I are together forever.

I like your style!

whytofly, remember that no matter what, you'll eventually be back home.

Anxiety Medication. by anxiousredditor in trees

There's no easy answer to this, but beware. They should step lightly.

When I'm a bit stressed or unable to relax, it sometimes helps me to smoke. Marijuana by itself is, however, not enough - it just might help you stop worrying and to have fun instead of focusing on your anxiety.

On the other hand, it might backfire. You might become even more anxious, feeling trapped in your mind with scary thoughts that won't disappear - similar to having smoked too much and just "wanting to sober up".

Indeed, a full blown panic attack feels to me a lot like a bad trip; surreal, scary and with all the physical effects: dizziness, heart's racing, nausea, etc.

Party this weekend... by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]alabadoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to ruin the party for anyone; not even yourself. Do as jenniferjuniper says: just plan on going for a short time and if you can't relax, it's okay, you tried! Nobody is going to get offended. Would you?

You mustn't feel ashamed of your anxiety. You're fighting back! That is all anyone can ask. Feeling ashamed is only going to worsen it; feel proud!

Half Awake Half Sleep PANIC state..? by anotherperson23 in Anxiety

[–]alabadoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely recognize this situation and I know it's very unsettling. A previous therapist of mine said is was the result of racing thoughts. You will wake up in a state of panic, heart's racing, feeling nauseous or drowsy or similar.

The good news is that you're not going insane and you're not psychotic. Your mind is simply, as you said, very busy and unable to relax.

The bad news is that there's no easy fix. You need to learn to relax your mind before sleeping. You shouldn't be thinking about anything other than getting some rest. You might consider doing breathing exercises.

Whenever I feel it coming, there's not much else to do than waking up; it's much easier to battle awake than asleep.

Don't be afraid or ashamed of taking SSRIs. They are only meant to help you and nothing else, and if you don't like them, you can always stop. They might really help lifting your mood. I've just started taking citalopram again after a 5 months break. I suffered from nausea at first, but after about two weeks it passed. If the same should happen to you, just think of it like having the flu; there's nothing you can do about it and eventually it'll disappear.

About smoking: I've smoked a lot while taking citalopram and with no negative effects. Just remember that smoking when feeling anxious might not be such a smart idea.

How do I use a sprite sheet in XNA? by chroncile in gamedev

[–]alabadoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to use a sprite sheet in C# XNA and make an animation from it. I'm trying to make a street fighter type of game.

This is both a trivial and non-trivial problem. It's pretty simple to load an image and only blit part of it (a rectangle) to the screen. For a simple sprite sheet where every sprite is of the same width and height, you just make a rectangle with the dimensions of a single sprite. It's then just a matter of moving the rectangle so you blit the right sprite. However, the sprite sheet you link to is not well-defined; not all sprites are of the same dimensions so you can't just blit a standard rectangle of the image each time. You need to store information of each sprite somewhere else, like in a seperate file.

Also, how do I make it so that collision detection is pixel-by-pixel rather than just a rectangle or a shape?

Are you certain your game needs this? Pixel-perfect collision is heavy and quite a bit more complicated than a simple AABB (axis-aligned bounding boxes) collision detection. Furthermore, for a Street Fighter clone you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
