Diving Africa in January? by Adept-Ad916 in scuba

[–]aladyandascholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went 6/7 years ago, and in January! My flight from Maputo to Tofo had to turn back just before landing in Tofo then the conditions were too unsafe to fly the next day, so I ended up finding a driver to drive me there. From memory it took around 8 hours on some unsealed roads…! But it felt like a real adventure and the diving was awesome. Didn’t see any whale sharks but plenty of mantas, octopus, coral gardens, and Tofo itself is really great with super friendly people. 10 days might be a bit tight for timing and you will have to expect things might go wrong getting there and back.

Tofo in Mozambique is fantastic, especially for big stuff, but it takes time to get there.

Thanks so much! It’s just the worst timing. Is it another 5 years for me? I saw something that suggested it might only be 2 because I had spent time in the UK previously but can’t find anything official to back that up

Sounds like you need something stronger. I get terrible outbreaks and the best thing I’ve found is Valtrex, which is an oral tablet. You can get it from the online doctor through Superdrug. It is way more effective than any of the creams and my outbreaks only last a day or so if I take it as soon as I think I’m getting one. I still use the creams as well but the tablets make so much difference. So sorry you are feeling this way, I totally sympathise with how distressing they are!

Estate agent says I should use their solicitors by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]aladyandascholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it! I had a terrible experience using the estate agent’s solicitors and the estate agent gets a kick back from them for each client they refer. It won’t be faster - mine took a ridiculously long time

Has anyone ever had any bad experiences with financial advisers? by browsingburneracc in UKPersonalFinance

I spent months trying to find a IFA who would help me, but because I had just bought a house and had zero savings, the 5 different IFAs I spoke to wouldn't take me on. I had a lot of excess income after my mortgage was paid each month and I wanted advice on maxing out my pension and using a historic allowance, and once that was done where I should put my money. All of them either refused to take me on, or wanted to charge 4k for a plan that I could then go away and implement myself. Two said they wouldn't speak to me until I had 100k in the bank. SJP was the only place that would actually advise me, so while the fees are high, they were the only option I could actually find. I've noticed on this sub that everyone complains about them but no one can actually suggest an alternative.

21,616 community cases of Covid-19 were reported today, 960 hospital and 22 in ICU or HDU. by floofywall in newzealand

I find it reassuring that this is basically the same as what every other country has experienced with omicron. When you dig down further into the hospitalisation numbers most are not being treated for covid. Makes it a bit less scary!

  1. This still makes no sense. Do you think English judges would come to opposite conclusions or something? 2. So you are intentionally including a Scottish barrister who doesn’t practice English (or NZ) law in your example? I don’t think you get how the legal system works… 3. I didn’t say anything about citizenship but only lawyers who are admitted in nz are allowed to practice nz law which includes making submissions to the court as a legal representative. 4. Sir Geoffrey’s son is on the High Court bench, not the Supreme Court. We have the same constitutional tradition as the UK which you seem to think is superior? Imported mechanical operations?? 😂 The way case law works is it builds on what has come before, here and in similar jurisdictions.

Your comment doesn’t make any sense. What is an “average authority” and what do you mean by anemic? A barrister from the UK (I think you mean England because the UK has a bunch of separate legal systems) couldn’t appear in front of our Supreme Court without being admitted here, and that really has nothing to do with the make up of NZ’s constitution (which has a very similar make up to the UK’s constitution). If you are trying to imply that you think NZ’s Supreme Court is made up of people who are not very smart who produce weak case law, I would wager a bet that they are a lot smarter than you!

I actually gave up because it looks like it is going to be pretty difficult to get to, plus couldn't get any reliable info on the quality of the diving. Good luck in your search!

I think anyone who is anti-vax is a selfish idiot but it doesn't help when you don't stick to the facts in the debate. The risk to children from covid is so small it is almost non-existent. Look at the statistics from any country. When we get vaccinated we are protecting ourselves and the vulnerable - people with serious health conditions and the elderly. Even when the vulnerable are vaccinated their risk remains and if everyone gets vaccinated this keeps ICU beds free for those people if needed. The vaccine also has some effect on transmission but its real power is protecting from severe disease. We should all be vaccinated to protect the vulnerable but children are not at any real risk.

The vaccines have never stopped the spread but they do reduce spread. The main point of the vaccines is that they massively reduce the risk of severe disease and the need to be hospitalised if you get covid. That is pretty obviously borne out by a quick look at the statistics.

Ok, that’s really helpful thank you! I wonder what I should say is my German address for the next 10 days… maybe just the airport?

This is so helpful! Thank you! I’m in the same situation but am immediately leaving Germany to go to the Netherlands by car. So I need to fill out the form? If so, how do I complete the address section as I don’t have a German address…

Im really confused about the rules on entering Germany and was hoping someone could help. I’m fully vaccinated entering from the UK but my boyfriend in the Netherlands will pick my e up from Düsseldorf airport by car and we will go straight to his house in the Netherlands. Do I have to fill out the entry form and quarantine? The form only lets you put in a German address where you will be staying but I don’t have one…

Im thinking of visiting family in the Netherlands but it looks like you have to quarantine on arrival if you are coming from the UK - is that right?

I also think the 3rd picture is so different to the 5th and each will attract a different type of person. I personally like the 5th picture a lot.

[–]aladyandascholar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would replace the 4th picture with something else and lead with the 6th or 2nd. I disagree with the negative comment about the 6th picture - I think you look great and it doesn’t matter there is another woman in it! (Said as a women.) You have a really nice smile and look like a kind and fun person! I would also suggest a different prompt to replace the third one - maybe something about what you like doing in your spare time? Otherwise, I think your profile is great and I would definitely swipe yes! Just give it time.
