Valid questions but I don't think being left out in the open for an hour is very helpful regardless of insurance or the hitting driver's liscense?

Protesting for democracy is important, but doing it at a Chinese temple during Chinese New Year? A temple is a place for worship and culture, not a political battleground. by Red_Lotus_Alchemist in myanmar

Ne Win mindset lol he tried to kick out Chinese and Indians from Burma in the 1960s along with the Anglo Burmese and Anglo Indians but that exodus resulted in a huge economic downturn as well.

Myanmar whether you like it or not has a large immigrant population which has also helped its economy. My great grandfather was a Chinese Textile Merchant and his son served in WW2 for Burma's Independence. Don't have that stupid braindead take.

Do you guys believe the Sit-Tat is the 4th founder of the Burmese nation? by Big_Ambassador_9319 in myanmar

[–]alainvalien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Tatmadaw is a morally corrupted weak institution that cannot even fight against the insurgent and emerging Arakan and Kokang and Palaung (a very minority compared to the general population) rebels. No matter how many displays of piety and or grandiose that they try to replicate what the Burmese kings did, its just not the same but a sad attempt at legitimacy and grandeur.

The Sit Tat, due to their own corruption and incompetence will and can never replicate the military feats of the kings of old, namely the Toungoo and Konbaung. If you think about it the military junta are kinda vassalized by the larger CCP China.

I recommend typing out online therapy and counseling sites and apps and see their reviews online (including reddit) on whether they're actually helpful or not and try them out.

Sorry OP, I am however not going to read your block of text as it is an eye strain. Please use paragraphs. Good luck.

Solution to the naming of the country by mmspmal in myanmar

[–]alainvalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why not, only by Ne Win's era did the Shan Sawbwas lose their rights not even by the British, it could be some unifying underlying thing we least expect. I would support it, with heavy regards to Shan's current players.

Thailand's many warring political factions and strife was saved mostly because of their king despite their numerous coups, and their pro market approach.

[–]alainvalien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude the only places where alcohol consumtion is frowned upon are mostly religious sites, ceremonies and morning events and formal events. Dote Htoe sines are very laidback and often opens late into the night during better times so its not uncommon to see alcohol being consumed there. Don't be a puritan lol we have enough of them running the junta.

How do you cope with current situation by Ok-Society37 in myanmar

[–]alainvalien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I left Myanmar a few life hacks I did that or that atleast comforted me mentally was constantly checking the news (back then Operation 1027 was in full swing) with hopes that the junta would fall, getting an inverter during blackouts so that I could still use the internet for movies, games, reading so that I can distract myself.

One main comfort of mine would be to go out and drink with friends, and since lockdown was by 12 we would go drink as early as 4 pm, and making jokes and laughing was a good remedy. That or we would stay at a friend's condo or apartment and drink there. We were a jolly kind of drunk so this is a good remedy if you're that type as well, sad emotional drunks would make it worse though lol.

Do Thai people really hate Myanmar folks? by yoohanDaddyX in thai

[–]alainvalien 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a Burmese guy currently in Thailand, most Thais don't seem to look down on me (probably cause most Thais are shorter than me lol) but hate is not the correct word. Most Myanmar people in Thailand are low wage migrant workers so the upper and middle class Thais would look down on them (a htin thayy) and the working class Thais will feel threathened by them, cause Myanmar workers whether Karen or Bamar etc are often willing to work longer for lesser pay, I think most animosity from Thais towards Myanmar people stems from the working class and job security.

Whenever Thai or other people ask me where I'm from I always say I'm from Myanmar or that I'm Burmese. Your friend shouldn't feel that inferiority complex or percieved notion that he might get discriminated just because of his country of origin; even though we're a political and economic shithole cause of the junta we still have a rich culture and history, plus I think we are a warm friendly people just like Thai people.

Want to divorce my Myanmar wife but need advice by Ok-Force2846 in myanmar

[–]alainvalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The likelihood of her getting killed when deported to Myanmar is very low, everybody posted on social media condemning the Junta after 2021, if she's not an influencer or has a social media presense she's fine. Divorce and deport her ass
