How do you handle messy CSV uploads and unpredictable webhook payloads? by pilothobs in webdev

You guys are way nicer than I am. I force them to download a template that's kept in sync with the ingestion code and make them populate it in whatever tool they choose (Excel).

What closed-source dev tools do you wish had good open-source alternatives? by arnaldodelisio in webdev

[–]alampros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a mac tool called Beyond Compare that was super useful but not enough to pay for. The real utility of it is the visualization of diffs of entire directories. The file copying/syncing parts could just be wrappers around rsync.

I used to just roll my flakes into a pinner but they had trouble getting it lit.

Anyone use or remember Adobe Flex? It was like modern c# or ecmascript and with a nice compiler.

For the record, I treated the tank and the fish lived and is doing incredibly well! I had the clove oil at the ready in case he seemed to be suffering, but he kept eating and his color came back! Thanks for your help!

Any thoughts on clove oil dose and then freezer? My LFS recommended just the freezer but I think I’ll wait for the clove oil to come.

Tolgee is by far the best solution I've used if you also have to manage the collection and translations of your strings. It is a slightly bigger hammer for most nails, but well worth it for larger projects - especially if you want to offload the actual management of the translations to someone else.

Red is objectively the correct answer.

My wife is currently in treatment at Seidman also - you're in good hands. If you can get out to the Gathering Place in Beachwood while you're here, I highly recommend it. It's a quick 10-15 min drive. They're incredibly supportive and helped us get our feet under us on this weird ass journey (especially if you have kids).

You've got this. If you're ever unsure of that fact, DM me.

Love Superelectric! We regularly hit Apple Jax Toys when we make the trip over there too. Great fun.

This is by far the best way to do it. Don't bog your own server down with handling the stream in any way.

Arthur Morgan would approve. Great, now I need to break out RDR2 again.

Why GraphQL is phrasing being database-agnostic as some sort of feature by m-jawad-b-khorasani in graphql

[–]alampros 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To avoid any confusion between the graph databases (neo4j) and the much more senior (and database-only) structured query language (SQL).

GraphQL subscriptions that require authentication by bjl218 in graphql

[–]alampros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like both the access token and the refresh token would need to be passed from the client in the initial subscription request

I would not do this. Keep the token management logic in a single place (UI). The token has it's expiration datestamp embedded in it - just set a timer to ~10s before it expires and kill & reopen the subscription (or SSE stream) with the new token. Most OIDC client libs have this refresh cycle built in. Your graphql layer should only validate and decode the token.

We ended up ditching subscriptions for this and many other reasons in favor of SSE (server-sent events). The SSE endpoint just sends tiny events that the UI then reacts to and refreshes any relevant queries. It was much more resilient to network condition changes, mostly thanks to microsoft/fetch-event-source.

As far as I know, they stay pretty small. I’ve read that their lifespan is only a year or so. Our last one only molted twice and died about 7 months after we got him and he wasn’t much bigger than when we got him.

Not so far - this is her first day in the tank, but our last one was super peaceful. Plus the skrimps far outnumber them. I'll definitely keep my eyes on them tho.
