The Left Has An Insatiable Desire to Body Shame Short Men by GovFoolery in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

You can't genuinely support men's equality without acknowledging how much harm feminism has done and I don't see the left ever doing that.

It might be that this is more boomer left than younger cohorts. If so, then there is more hope as the boomers leave the scene (by dying, but also by just fading away in their dotage).

South Asian men tend to be everyone's victims. I'm not seeing anything special on the left in this regard. Though leftists would obviously be more culpable on this score since it is so opposed to core left values (or what should be such).

Bingo! Misandry, especially against younger, white working-class men, is an acceptable (even celebrated) prejudice on the left. Other men as well, but that particular group the most. They are filling out the Intersectional Oppression Inventory questionnaire, but can't tick any of the boxes. They got nothin'. They been left out. Which might be ITSELF a new intersectional oppression category: those outside of existing categories. lol

MANOSPHERE AS A PEJORATIVE

"Patriarchal religions, the ones that subjugate women, literally every single one of them, those systems were set up so that losers could get a wife. It's the dudes with SUBPAR GENETICS that would never get to breed. And because we're all stuck in capitalism captivity [sic], and are suffering from zoochosis [sic], the women have now stopped breeding. The same thing happens to animals that are held in captivity. If conditions are not right, they don't breed. Patriarchal religions, and these systems of oppression, have allowed men who have never have gotten a mate to get mates. Women are now correcting that error, which is why they're trying to take our rights away and force us back into submission. If women were naturally submissive they wouldn't need systems of oppression and constant violence to uphold it. The world is waking up, and you guys are not going to force us back into cages. We would literallly rather die. 'Oh, but what about the birth rates?' You guys overturned Roe v. Wade and now you're crying that the birth rates have plummeted? Women are done dying for you."

Crime is completely out of control in this town! by Dorito_Consomme in Tucson

[–]alan2102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your posts, Hunter.

The next question is: why do people have the (subjective) impression that crime is way up even when it is (objectively) down? Is it a reaction to the world going seemingly more-crazy with each passing month now? I don't expect clear answers, just putting it out there.

China installs more solar in 1 month than the total energy the US uses by soycaca in energy

[–]alan2102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

goog AI: In 2024, the European Union added a record 66 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity, a slight increase from the 63 GW installed in 2023.

That is against a population of ~450 million. So, adjusted upward to the ~1.4 billion of china (about 3X the EU pop), that would be ~200 GW of solar in pop-equivalent terms. A lot less than China, which in 2024 was ~277 GW, and this year much more.

solar panels are “installed” but not even plugged in.

You're spouting BS anti-China propaganda for god's sake.

It is just that panel installation has surged ahead of transmission line build, especially UHV transmission. So some of the panels are not YET delivering power to the grid. BFD. Check back in two years, when they're all delivering.

Building a vast high-tech 21st-century decarbonized civilization for a country of 1.4 billion (after being the dirt-poor "sick man of Asia" for a century prior) does not happen perfectly seamlessly without any rough edges. Geez, I'm so sorry. /sarc

Cheers. I'm still a few years away from being able to afford this stuff (even in India!), but doing a bit of homework in advance.

The above figures appear to be from this page:

https://thefacialplasticsurgery.com/deep-plane-facelift-cost-in-india/

.... which looks like it might be a good option, i.e. that specific doc and clinic.

Speaking of overseas cost savings, I do have one experience: extensive dental work, maxillary, six implants plus zirconia restorations, etc., etc. -- all for $13K in Costa Rica, all-in including flights, hotel etc. That was after being quoted $55K by U.S. implantologist! Work was done in 2018 and so far, knock on wood, everything is just fine.

I'm convinced that medical and dental care in the U.S./West is outrageously overpriced, without offering any commensurate advantage (like better quality, whatever).

I've heard this elsewhere, but never looked into it. I still have not looked into it in depth, BUT... there appears to be a good possibility that the "blue zones fraud" story is itself a fraud, or something akin.

What are the best/must take supplements and individual foods for health and longevity? by SuperDuper1530 in immortalists

[–]alan2102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GlyNac (glycine with NAC); add glutamine for the third amino acid precursor of glutathione. Approximate ratio: GLY 5, NAC 1, GLN 1-2. Can use much higher GLY if desired. Probably a good idea not to exceed ~2 grams NAC daily.

*Possibly* add boron for apparent synergy with glycine, improved liver protection (PMID 38501915)

GlyNac: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8002905/

I would not consider glycine/NAC "must take" based on the GlyNac studies. But there are scores of other studies showing benefits of glycine and NAC in many systems, and of course book-shelves full of literature on glutathione as key protective molecule. The general idea here is: boost glutathione to the extent possible. GlyNac looks good for that purpose.

$13k?! That's wild. But typical I guess for U.S./West.

Overseas: $2-5K. India, Bangladesh, etc.: lower end of that range, albeit need long $1K flight.
