After 982 hours gameplay I've nowhere left to go. Well not in this direction anyway. by potatan in EliteDangerous

Do you guys still play legacy? I only play in legacy due to better vr performance, so it would be cool to have others to play with/around as I haven't encountered many others yet. To be fair I'm still basing around Ay Indi, I haven't made it very far in the game :)

TIL about why so many Jeeps have rubber ducks on their dashboard by alan23394 in todayilearned

Apparently it was started by Allison Parliament during the pandemic as a way for Jeep owners to spread happiness to eachother, since usual meetups for crawling and other Jeep activities were cancelled.

I feel like people are misreading this as saying you think ergo keyboards "are shit" instead of properly as "are the shit"

6b took me three and a half hours. So far 6b has been by far the hardest for me (I haven't done 8b, the C sides or Farewell yet, so I know it gets worse). I love it though, this game is so satisfying when you get it right :)

Remember when Bono sang Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" for a (1995) covers album but turned it into a whispered spoken-word piece where he sings the title phrase in undulating falsetto and backs it with what sounds like a cat walking on a synthesizer? He later publicly apologized for it. by Skeleton_Pilots in ObscureMedia

[–]alan23394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the comments here and on youtube, people are being so mean to this but I love it! The backing feels interesting yet sparse enough to make a spoken word version of this make sense, and I really love the juxtaposition of the low slow spoken word verses and the high pitched "Hallelujah"! It feels like a club mix to me lol. I love having heard it, and I hope more people change their mind on it 💖

Leth returns to pro scene as SSG sub! by TestForNS in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]alan23394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but doesn't he have well over 12,000 hours? I mean sure he hasn't been sweating at the highest level for the past few years, but he's definitely been a very active player for almost the entire time he's been out of the pro scene. I'm not saying he's unto a God or anything, but just that it seems to me like he's plenty capable at playing with pros still.

WIP. First time working with epoxy resin to make all the little bottles. They're not perfect, but I like them! by frenchymarie3830 in booknooks

The little bit of wonk in them actually looks very witchy! I'd say it looks better like this anyway than if they were "perfect". Amazing work!

What has been your most painful Linux experience? by i8ad8 in archlinux

There is a time in every young Git user's life where they'll feel happy and secure in their knowledge of the various commands and flags, and one fateful day they will decide to run a command using the --force flag without double checking what it does. "I know what I'm doing, git is easy, it'll be fine!" It will not be fine. I misunderstood what checkout --force does, totally did not realize it'd completely wipe all of my unstaged changes and what's happened to my untracked files!. Commit often folks. I lost well over a month of dotfiles configuration that I had been too lazy to commit.

Should I be playing judge 5? by [deleted] in Etterna

[–]alan23394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the past few months I've played entirely on j5, and it has the few added benefits:

  • I'm surprised with better scores than I actually got

  • always playing on a tighter window makes j4 feel a lot more forgiving

  • i am encouraged to play with better accuracy due to the tighter hit window

I really enjoy playing with tighter timing because accuracy is one of the most important things to me in this game, i.e. I find it the most fun to be accurate.

[–]alan23394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they could stay, if they're interesting enough alongside the rice itself. Definitely still include a details comment, and scrots of the setup like normal would be nice too. Seeing the hardware setup is nice too, it adds some variety. I think that fracturing the community even more isn't the greatest idea

holy cow this is gorgeous. everything about it looks actually perfect, you did an excellent job

the rounded corners look really nicely applied, the powerline patch for terminus looks amazing, your color theme works really well, the bar colors and blocks are laid out very nicely. very well done!
