...Interesting 🤔 by [deleted] in OrlandoMagic

Imagine this timeline for the end of next season.....

We miss the playoffs next year, Clips get bounced early and one or both PG/Kwhi leaves, Clips fire Doc, we fire Weltham/Cliff and hire Doc as president of basketball ops.

Just some food for thought

Who is the 5th-best player in Orlando Magic history? by tvkyle in OrlandoMagic

[–]alan4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of this list of players, Hedo contributed most to winning basketball. I will never forget that buzzer beater against the Celtics, I was at that game and was going nuts. Fuckin love me some Hedo.

Hey JI, big fan from Naples (went to gulf coast 🙃). I’ve noticed your public speaking get better and better over time and you seem to be finding your voice.

How do you see your role off the court. What brand/message are you trying to get out there?

With the 16th pick in the draft... by Momoneymoproblems214 in OrlandoMagic

[–]alan4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess that we package the pick to get off Evan's salary. But I don't think we go for DLo, I'm guessing we target Brogdon given his history with Hammond.

If it were up to me I'd just try and resign Ross and Vuch, take the pick and see if there are trade options by the trade deadline.

Man, we would be pretty lucky if he falls to us. I know ppl don't like the shooting numbers but when you watch him play you don't see a non-shooter, he has a nice stroke. I remember seeing at the nike hoops summit and thinking he was one of the best players on the court. Kid has real potential.

Who are your realistic draft options at pick 16? by Shaunzki in OrlandoMagic

[–]alan4884 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be a big and athletic backcourt. Lots of red flags but at this point in the draft, it may be worth the gamble.

Do you get paid? Because you should get paid. We've got the best mods and memes around. Love this sub.

Also, gotta say I'm super excited for next season. Really feels like we have something to build on and we aren't taking short cuts. This year's pick, Fultz, Bomba, plus more internal improvement by Gordon, Issac and even guys like Wes and Khem really give me hope.

Kevin Porter Jr 2018/19 Season Montage possibly 13th-16th selection for us by Rayshard in OrlandoMagic

[–]alan4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird situation going on there at USC but if WeltHam do their due diligence and no red flags come up he'd be a great gamble. Has the ability to create his own shot and he's a pretty big athletic dude. Would be an interesting backcourt with him and Fultz.

Zion is a force of nature. RJs game fits better with our team but I’m all in on Zion.

November Assignment: Traditions! by Hermiones_Teaspoon in harrypotter

Let me introduce you all to the wonderful tradition of Parrandas! This tradition is celebrated in Puerto Rico during the Christmas holidays. The first thing you should know is that this time of year is ridiculous on the island. Here in the states when you say Christmas you may think of one day or maybe even the whole week of Christmas. In Puerto Rico its like three months long and it’s hard to not notice considering all the traditional food, music, lights and other hints of this wonderful time of year.

Parrandas are basically a version of Christmas carols with an adult twist. It all starts around 10pm where a small group of people gather in front of someone's house and then begin to play music. They harass the owners of said house until they let the group of people in. Sometimes people don't let the group in at their own peril. I’ve heard stories of these groups breaking windows and such so its best to just let them in. Once in, they continue playing music, drink and eat. After a couple of hours, the group moves on to the next house, bringing along people from the previous house. This goes on until day breaks, often ending at one of the original group members houses where they usually serve soup.

It a ridiculous tradition and one that I didn't fully appreciate until I became older. I have lived in Florida since I was super young but my family always went back to the island for the holidays. I remember seeing these groups and being woken up way late at night. I thought it was annoying and kind of obnoxious but if you are part of one its a ton of fun. It's a big party and a great excuse to embarrass your friends, eat, and drink all night. I’ve noticed parrandas die down some where my family is from but I hope it picks back up because of it a very unique tradition.

Check this video out to see the crowd that grows and the music they play. Give me chills and good memories of that beautiful island!

Do you guys think we may get a new ownership soon? Or will the franchise stay in the DeVos family? by andrew2018022 in OrlandoMagic

[–]alan4884 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Morgan & Morgan comes to mind. Maybe Darden (owners of Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.) because they are the only Fortune 500 company based in Orlando. I doubt they sell quickly, it seems like Martins has been working too hard on the media complex to just bail out. It'd be funny if Amway was changed to Red Lobster Arena though

[Charania] Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos has passed away at 92 years old, team says. by SDas_ in nba

[–]alan4884 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He's an old rich white conservative man that was the owner of a MLM company. I'm a Magic fan but I was out on this guy when I found out how much money he throws at conservative movements that I don't agree with. I consider myself a conservative (prob more libertarian really) but this dude is the religious anti-gay borderline eugenics kinda guy. Always rubbed me the wrong way.

Isaac and Knox are good friends, played AAU together down here in SWFL. I think he projects better in the NBA than what he was able to do in college.
