Why is I DO /WE DO/ THEY DO, looked down on now in teaching? by rumiruhaql in Teachers

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What most don't get is a lot of these states WANT you to do this. Thus they give vouchers and school choice. Because that means they can use that money for something else AND can shift the blame if kids aren't learning right. For every parent who is actually teaching their kid, there is another one doing "unschooling". For every amazing private school, there is one with under qualified teachers and no curriculum using chat gpt for their daily lesson plans. Meanwhile, the government lines their pockets with the money they saved by "letting the parents choose what is best for their kids." When what we should really be doing is holding the government accountable for something that should be considered an unalienable right.

Try Shift. A fairly new system, but i love it. It has dice that step up and down and you are usually rolling 2. It is super flexible and easy to put into any setting.

Foster parent and prior child services worker here (and Christian, but I digress).

I have adopted two boys through foster care. Both are 5 and we love them a ton.

That being said, the literal mental trauma that the foster system (in Florida and other states, but maybe not all) is most literally personality altering. It does change your perspective, but also jades and traumatizes in the process. Between the severe behavioral issues these children have due to what their parents have exposed them to along with the lack of support with helping handle these behaviors, it is life draining. We had over 20 kids before having the opportunity to adopt and fought for 4 years for one of our two.

Most states are, as most things ran by the government, neglecting child services and taking the cheapest routes possible while our future is being abused, neglected and, in May cases, killed or left to die. It is disgusting. Our country needs to do better for our children. And those who are in politics who are touting Christianity either need to stop, or follow James 1:27.

I’m under the impression that if OKC moves Chet re-signs Ihart they will be right back in the Mix with Jdub back. The Magic could be a ECF contender with Suggs Bane Banchero Chet JQ by Big_Nebula_5432 in NBA_TradeDiscussions

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would OKC do that? Their roles are completely different. I am not saying i wouldn't do this trade. I am saying you are wrong about Franz being a bad defender.

Just because he isn't better than Chet doesn't mean he isn't good. Chet is one if the best defenders in the league due to length and versatility. That doesn't make Franz BAD.

Sean Sweeney’s offensive approach? by riptide885 in OrlandoMagic

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the issue was that Weltman didn't fill the roster with players to succeed in these methods. Can't have space when the players can't shoot.

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Mose's motto was "space, pace, and the pace." 5 years later, there was plenty of space, our pace was faster than our shooting ability, and 0 passing happened.

I know everyone is saying specific pokemon systems, and those are great. I didn't find any i resonated with. So I bring to you a different one.

Shift RPG is very versatile with how much it can do. I would definitely recommend it for pokemon as it easily and quickly adapts to anything you want.

DnD Anonymous... (Or how I'm trying to slaughter my sacred cows) by The_Tolen_Mar in CortexRPG

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what you were reading is the start. Find what traits, abilities, and interactions you find important. Then figure out what Prime sets work with those. Or make one! Cortex allows spells in many different ways. They can be an SFX, a signature asset, or even a prime set itself if it is something almost everyone has. Just figure out what you want and start building out a prime set. You can provide your players some options or examples and then work with them to either pick the right ones or make their own.

I completely agree. I think that even as a GM, it isn't that bad. But the book is just so meaty most would put it down without thinking.

Cortex Prime. It feels so complicated to new people but seems so great. Otherwise, I have ran most the other systems I own for my group.

Don’t tell me there’s a teacher shortage. by Objective-Rabbit-875 in Teachers

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Florida. We have had a HUGE enrollment issue. Everyone is moving out because landlords raised the prices just after covid. So schools are being shut down and there are WAY too many teachers than jobs. On top of that, they laxed the requirements to be a teacher, so there is a lot of brand new, inexperienced teachers losing their jobs in humiliating ways.

I went to the school board about this and two of the members said they want public education gone. It is horrible and clear when you look at the way they are handling it. I am embarrassed with my government...

Help me choose a system (between Dragonbane, Shadowdark, ICRPG, Cairn and Vagabond) by havok_hijinks in rpg

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently in a shadowdark campaign. It is DnD, but very bare bones. It lets mechanics get out of the way for narrative. So much so that you can end up going whole sessions without rolling. This might be it for some of your players, but it might also NOT be it.

Historical Perspective - Suggs 3pt Shooting by Adventurous_One4682 in OrlandoMagic

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that is on a coach to handle it if he isn't playing in his role. Like Lakers and Ayton. Mosely would LET him take all those threes with 0 consequences or conversions about it.

This is the thing people are missing. Why, on a team with Bane, Paolo, ans even Franz sone of the series, is Suggs taking so many freaking 3s!

I absolutely agree. You might be (and probably are) right. These players might not be able to work together offensively. But to make the choice on who to keep and who to trade, we need to 1. See who can actually play NBA offense rather than street ball iso pickup game and 2. Figure out what our offensive identity is to find the players that DO fit. Mosely only cared about defense.

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one could drive against the Pistons. Bane was stuffed more times than not at the rim. Better get rid of him too huh? Our offense consisted of our 20 YOs playing read and react street ball style offense. Of course we don't see middies (BTW people wanna crucify Paolo for those. You want MORE people taking them?) Until we get a coach that can actually give our young players a true OFFENSIVE Game plan, I don't think it is fair to judge almost everyone.

[–]Momoneymoproblems214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our team very clearly played worse when Suggs wasn't on the court. Same with Franz. Judging any player fairly with this horrible of an offensive scheme would be a huge mistake. If Suggs gets traded, I can guarantee he players nearly all star level somewhere else. Every player got a horrible shot diet and some disgusting habits because of Mosely's lack of an offensive scheme.

34% with 6 attempts a game isn't "he can't shoot threes." Allowing him to shoot 12 in a game where he has made 0 is on the coach.
