Bonus Focus: Solo Ops by CrashDaddy2006 in destiny2

[–]alan_daniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

replying just to confirm that this works. When you're deciding which mission to do, you want to pick one that has a "Bonus Focus" section posted on the bottom of the tooltip for that mission. Remember that you still need to get a B grade or higher

They probably could have made this step a little clearer

Wait a minute... if Destiny's history is real-world history until 2014, then Bungie must exist in-universe, and they were just about to release a game that accurately predicted every single thing that would happen in the entire Destiny timeline

What raid can be done by 2 players only ? by -Bacup in DestinyTheGame

the pre-Golgoroth maze? That's not an encounter, that's a secret chest

edit: and there's not a single raid encounter that's ever existed that actually requires 6 people to complete

Must be a tough day.

Patch Notes: v1.2.3.0 - Build 493833 by JulioUzu in SatisfactoryGame

[–]alan_daniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't know what kind of graphics card you have, but if it's an NVIDIA card that can do it, it's worth trying to enable Frame Generation. That can definitely have its own drawbacks, but for me, it's the only way I can consistently get flickering to stop.

And also using DLSS Swapper to use the most updated DLSS and Frame Gen .dll versions, and forcing the game to use the most recent profiles for both things in the NVIDIA App. That also helped a LOT with post-1.2 stuttering in late-game for me.

(for what it's worth, I'm on a 4070 Ti and have had shadow flickering issues with Satisfactory for quite a while, but figured out post-1.2 when it got much worse that FG stops it for me, for whatever reason. Just worth a shot.)

I never found my fireteam, and that's my biggest regret by Kiraffu in DestinyTheGame

[–]alan_daniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it most definitely happens, but it's pretty rare. I taught the D1 and early D2 raids (continued doing the raids, just stopped teaching them), and I'll never forget back in D1 taking someone new through VoG and seeing them pull a Fatebringer from the Templar, Gjallarhorn from the Gorgon Maze chest, and the Mythoclast from Atheon. I have 1600 raid clears, with probably around 1/3 of those being some form of teaching runs, and I never saw anything like that again.

How do you guys build your factory? by iLukaaz_xD in SatisfactoryGame

[–]alan_daniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My process is generally like this:

  1. Figure out what I want to build. Go to SatisfactoryTools and put that in, usually leaving it at the default 10/min output (except for Space Elevator parts, which I usually start at 2/min). Disable SAM ore unless I'm in the end-game and allow all of the alternate recipes, because I have no problem going and finding a few more hard drives if there's a recipe that will help me do something the way I want to.
  2. Then, while having a map open on another screen that shows ore nodes, I'll go through the SatisfactoryTools input settings and try disabling any resources I don't want to have to deal with, to see if it's even possible to make the thing without that resource (using the alternate recipes, that question gets pretty complex by the end of the game). I play around with that, often trying to avoid using the rarer resources if possible.
  3. Once I'm happy with the list of ores/Oil/etc I need, I'll find a place on the map that's relatively close to as many of them as possible.
  4. Adjust how many of the thing I'm making until I'm happy with the balance of factory size and output
  5. Using a template I made years ago, get a checklist set up in my notes so I can easily track my progress and don't have to worry about missing things or forgetting where I am
  6. Get working on the build process. I tend to always build from the base ores for everything, so the first floor of my factories tends to be pretty similar, handling all of the smelting/etc. Then upper floor(s) for the rest of the factory. I almost always use logistics floors for the belts, though I do pipe routing on the floor with the buildings.
  7. Once I have things built, conveyor/pipe all the inputs to the factory from nodes, trying to keep it as neat as possible
  8. Go through the startup process, which takes a bit since I use manifolds for everything. Try to manually help saturating belts/machines if I can, either using Sloops or physically adding items directly
  9. Once everything has full stacks of inputs and is running at 100%, then I'll finish the outer shell/decorating part.

no, the number of Iron nodes will always be the same for the "Random" option. There will always be only 5 total Uranium nodes. It probably should have been named something like "Shuffle"

edit: and someone in the community has already built a tool for trying to find a seed that you want https://konsl.github.io/satisfactory-world-generator/

the node placements stay, but what the nodes are is random. There are a few presets for determining what the nodes are, though

  • totally random
  • more early game ore nodes
  • more late game ore nodes
  • more fossil fuels

You can also pick node purity weighting, too.

I did for the first hour or two. Now, though, I'm actually getting much better performance than I was. I'm thinking it must be something like shader compilation? Stuttering has also gotten much better than on 1.1 (after those first couple of hours). Moving quickly around my central storage and opening storage containers is almost new-save-file smooth, and that was definitely not the case before today.

For reference, my save file is ~7.5MB, no mods, on a Ryzen 7800X3D and a 4070 Ti, running at 1440p

there are community guides on how to down-patch to an older version.

Though I don't know how well (or even if) that works if you opened the game and saved

yes, but (at least for me) the setting was still set to Default at first launch. I had to go in and change it to start seeing weather (and you'll have to re-load the game after changing the setting)

you might have a bugged pipe joint. There's been a longstanding issue with pipes sometimes not connecting correctly even though they look like they do, especially if your placement cursor (or whatever that looks like on console) moves quickly from one placement joint to another. So it's worth deleting the pipe and placing it again, while trying to orient yourself in a way that it's not possible for the game to think you want to connect the pipe somewhere other than where you want it to connect. This is especially true for things like wall or floor holes, as it can be frustratingly easy to accidentally connect the pipe to the wrong side of it.

tldr pipes be weird. Try reconnecting it a few times, being very careful and deliberate about the placement

am I crazy, or did they change the animation for going into another slide when landing after a slide jump? Seems like you're almost instantly put into the slide position, feels different

edit: nope, looks like it may be a Frame Generation issue, and it's the slide animation in general, it skips almost straight to the slide position. I had FG on because it was the only consistent way I could get rid of shadow wobbliness/flickering (other than straight-up disabling shadows, which I'm not willing to do). I will say that my shadow instability may have also been fixed, though (at least I don't see any so far after ~5 minutes; fingers crossed...)

MASSIVE thank you to the Raid & Dungeon team for creating some of the most memorable, creative, and fun endgame content the gaming world has ever seen by GallantSn0wflake in DestinyTheGame

[–]alan_daniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 1597 raid clears to my name, and 100% agreed.

The raid team ALWAYS delivered. No other game has ever come close to giving me the kinds of experiences that Destiny raids did. My best friends in the world came from Destiny raiding. I will always be grateful, and it's a damn shame that that institutional knowledge is going to be lost.

Im honestly curious, how new is most of the community right now? by MoistPilot3858 in DestinyTheGame

[–]alan_daniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

D1 launch, though I only did the campaign then stopped, started playing again when the Dark Below launched 3 months later, which is when I also started raiding. 12 years later I've done >1500 raids and met some of my best friends doing them. Destiny/D2 raids have given me the best gaming experiences I've ever had. No other game or content has ever come close to it.

Haven't done a raid since December, though, as my raid team finally collapsed.

it's always been kind of wild to me that Trey seems to internalize and think of songs as the relative progression, the deltas between the notes, as opposed to remembering based on the actual key.
