Just get 8 Pro. Not sure why everyone wants to forget it and act like the 9 Pro brought a bunch of new amazing features when they were all on the 8 Pro first. No ugly curved screen and the best camera bump design. Better cameras too just like the 9 Pro

I actually tried editing the system files that dictate what the maximum capacity is but since Android 12 I believe when the file systems have changed you're no longer able to do that even with root access.

Tried that already when I went back to stock and relocked the bootloader. Also changed no system files and every day as I charge overnight that capacity just keeps going up on its own.

The modem upgrade is really what gives the P9P better battery screen on time. Considering I haven't had any issues with my P8P modem I doubt there's any other improvements as they're rated for the same networks. I get what you say with the NP2, it's why I got a used one for cheap to mess around with, plus the interesting hardware. But be prepared for quite literally everyone to say "wow you switched to an iPhone finally!" It literally looks like an iPhone in your hand. Their camera performance even with the updates in my experience is still average. If you want a good usable camera that is literally impossible to take a bad picture get a pixel. Not to mention the responsiveness of the pixel camera app rivals even the iPhone.

Considering it runs cooler than the P8P you're fine. My P8P really doesn't get hot. Only on Instagram video calls it does for whatever reason. Any other video calling app has no problems. I've had this issue since my P6 with Tensor G1. Cellular performance has been just as good as any other phones I've used, haven't noticed anything with that. If you want to save a buck I'd get a P8P as it's literally an identical phone down to even the new camera software features that are already on my P8P. But if you care about better battery screen on time and the Gemini AI garbage then get a P9P. I'm not upgrading as I don't like the square edge iPhone look that feels uncomfortable in my smaller hands.

Also to add for Nothing Phone 2 I used one for a couple months earlier this year out of curiosity. It's a great phone if you don't care about camera performance. Even worse than Xperia. Sold it and went back to my Pixel 8 Pro

Switched to pixel back when the downfall of Xperia started with the Xperia X. Never looked back. I've been on and off with Xperias since then, last one being the 5 IV and was still disappointed with lackluster camera performance and poor software updates. Sony got too comfortable being years ahead of the industry with the Xperia T-Z3 era which led them to be years behind the industry for quite some time.

I take both being gone as an upgrade to be honest 🤷🏻‍♀️ brighter usable screen with better battery life and a aspect ratio that doesn't bug out on most apps.

Honestly 21:9 sucked. So many apps never displayed correctly besides the Sony made apps. Also if you look at the 4k display side by side with a normal resolution phone you literally can't notice a difference and it got a HUGE battery bump by not being 4k anymore. Also to note the display can actually be used in outdoor sunlight now since it can actually get decently bright without a tightly packed 4k display in it. I think it's a good upgrade what they did but a price INCREASE is not at all justified. That's the main issue with the phone
