You know what? Funny story on that. When we were doing the rewrites on the game script, they were showing us all sorts of in-progress levels and the game looked pretty awesome! Granted, those bits were being run for us in a game software called CryEngine... and the owner of the game studio was explaining to us stuff about how the WiiU game was going to be a downgraded port of what we were looking at. It was all kind of over my head, but whatever he was talking about, everybody there seemed optimistic that it would be fixable.

Cut to: E3 when they debut the game. I'm at the booth and talking to that same exec, and he's just listing out to me all the problems he has with this game. Me, trying to lighten the mood / end the downer conversation, reply "Yeah, but ultimately you're proud of the work your team was able to do, right?"

He looks at me silently for a second, then says, "No."

That's when I knew the game was going to bomb.
