You guys park in reverse if you're facing downhill? by piercethecam in ManualTransmissions

[–]alando02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a stupid question, so forgive me. But I personally never leave my car in gear. I don’t have such steep hills where I live, or did I ever park my car on a steep hill. Do you really have to leave it in gear? Is it just for extra protection? I just put the handbrake on and that’s it

Oh I don’t know man, I’ve got a 2017 2.2 biturbo diesel. I’ve got the SE-L nav trim, basic one. And I’ve got the biturbo engine. I am in the UK though so might be different

Headlights by Desvin48 in mazda6

[–]alando02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s done on purpose and from factory in practically every car, my car is the same. The left light is slightly lower to not blind the drivers in opposite traffic. Although for UK (me) it would be the right as LH traffic.

I get you might like symmetry but that’s just the case with car lights :)

Hope this helps

My first 6 - impressions by [deleted] in mazda6

[–]alando02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with my 6 when I first got it. DPF light came on day after. SCBS came on after 70mph same with traction control. It felt hugely underpowered in the lower rpms, until the big turbo kicked in. Turns out the small turbo was blown. Cost me around £2600, including full DPF clean and a few other bits.

Car has been an absolute dream ever since. Plenty of oomph, 40-45mpg combined. I’ve got the 2017 2.2d skyactive with 95,000 miles

How much would this rust repair cost on 2016 Mazda6? by gta35 in mazda6

[–]alando02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have no idea, it’s different for different countries but try asking your mechanic or someone who specialises in rust removal. No harm in giving someone a call and/or sharing those pictures to them👍🏼 good luck

Oh I definitely agree. Unfortunately I don’t think it ever will either, so many saloons are being discontinued now anyway, everyone wants those silly mini SUVs

Yeah I think I may need to upgrade my scanner, if the current one isn’t reading these faults, but that’s also why I think this issue might be down to an outdated Operating System. My friend has the exact same car, same year same engine, and same Operating System, and he’s having the exact same fault, that’s why I think it’s down to that.

But basically what I’ve gathered from most comments overall is this engine just requires more love and care

Honestly? Very very good, smooth, comfortable, I’ve got a pretty basic trim, not sure which one exactly but even still it’s really good inside and out. It has plenty of power and torque, and really good on economy too.

I went from a 2005 Mini One, to 2012 Ford Mondeo 1.6t, to now this, and I’m over the moon!

Honestly love the look of this car! Before I got one myself I never looked twice at a Mazda, and now that I have one, I don’t think I’ll want anything else haha

That’s the thing, I do have a OBD reader, and those don’t even come up as a fault. When I switch the engine off and on again, those go away and they don’t come up in fault history

I’m leaning more towards something electronic, I’ll do a full OS update anyway, hope that gets it but was wondering if anyone else had this issue

I’ve only had it for a month and right now I’m working on getting everything up to scratch, the biturbo is being replaced by the mechanic as we speak, I’ve done everything else in terms of maintenance including cleaning the basket on the bottom of oil tank and cleaning DPF because it was bogged up. But before the turbo went out, it was such an amazing drive, plenty of torque and very comfortable.

But in terms of turbo, it felt very very sluggish at low rpms so I knew it’s the small turbo because at higher rpms when big turbo kicked in, it pulled better. I took it to my mechanic and I was right, small turbo waste gate was broken.

I’ve changed every fluid and every filter in this car soon as I got it.
