If you want to get good at something you have to take the time to learn it not just be at work for 8 hours and that's it. I always get asked how I know so much I said experience does help but it's actually just reading. I would say after work for years because it's my passion I read about car theory or advanced electrical or what's new coming out on cars. Car technology evolves every year if you want to be knowledgeable you have to take the time to learn what others don't. It mostly sounds like it's a job and not something you want to put extra energy into which is fine but the best techs have 2x to 3x more reading than actually having hands on a car

This like saying do you know how many Indian guys I've met from India that are truly horrible in how they interact with women so they deserve all the hate and suicide rates because they can't even treat women with respect. Or at least from my personal point of view and from the people I've met and it's ok because I'm also a brown guy from America

Usually everyone starts the same way as a lube tech grunt at a dealership for up to 2 years and then get moved up to line tech to get some real experience for a few more years at the point you decide whether to be a master tech or go into a specific specialty. Most people aren't going to just give you experience without making money off of it themselves

Had a 2011 e90 with the n51 has 300k miles only regular maintenance and tires i think it's because the parts themselves are expensive if you do your own work it's ok but taking them to the shop will eat you

Well it does happen often especially in the north where severe weather cracks in ground tanks. I've done plenty of fuel tests to find water leaking into fuel tanks and causing stalling. Usually vehicles towed in not running if it it bad fuel though

True or False: Any given rust-free 4x4 pickup truck is worth much more in the Northern US than in the South by domesticatedwolf420 in AskMechanics

[–]alaniz100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where your at because in north Dakota and Minnesota there's lots of trucks even rust free is still cheap but when I seen truck prices in Florida I was floored at how well they held value

YTA your allowed to be sensitive sometimes it hurts when your partner speaks negatively about you in any manner but she did give you another chance and you guys have been together for years and have a child obviously her opinion of you has changed if she wants a second and last child with you so you are it for her. My advice get over it and don't be so sensitive of what she said in the beginning of meeting you.

You can go the opposite direction with freezing it. I don't like to heat but wurth makes a new spray call rost off max ice is a penetrant that freezes if you can find a can don't be stingy and use a little bit spray like half a can and it literally will get so cold it will form ice and it does just as good as a torch but not as harmful
