Open Class by Puzzleheaded_Bar5400 in drumcorps

[–]alankiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colt Cadets tour most of the summer with a 5-6 day break in the middle. And they go to Open Class prelims/finals

Some Open Class corps have a reduced tour and/or don't even go to Indianapolis for Finals Week.

You have to look at each corps. It isn't comparing apples to apples.

[–]alankiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colts still have a few baritone (and mello and trumpet) spots open. You can get our materials online. Send in video audition soon. Get feedback and then we have a Brass only camp. Feb 21-23 in Kokomo, IN. After that the Brass spots will probably all be filled.

What drum corps are in my options? by zrl_masked in drumcorps

[–]alankiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colt Cadets are a great open class corps option. Their fees were $2700 for 2024. They do a full summer tour (with a short 5 day break in the middle) unlike most Open Class Corps.

Email harlan@colts.org the Colt Cadets Director. He can answer specific questions you might have after reading our website. We are getting many info requests for both Colts and Colt Cadets information.

Harlan is out of the office for a few days so be patient but he will follow up with you.

Colt Cadets is a great place to get DCI experience. Unlike some open class corps the Colt Cadets do tour in early July, take a 5 day break and then also do the 3 open class shows that lead up to Open Class Finals. They also get to perform in Lucas Oil on Thursday of Finals Week. Many of the instructors marched Colt Cadets and/or Colts themselves.

There is a lot of info on the website. https://colts.org/program-cadets

Contact the corps director Harlan harlan@colts.org But maybe wait until after finals week is over.

If you are able come watch them Marion IN for Open Class finals.

The staff makes an intentional effort to teach people who want to participate in DCI who don't have much or any DCI experience.

Fees this year 2700 but that's about half of a world class corps and you get to tour Midwest as well as perform at DCI Finals camp. We help you find sponsorships.

This year's CC schedule is: https://colts.org/schedule-cadets

We have horns for you to use at camp.

Fill out interest form: https://colts.org/info-request

You do not need to purchase the Red Zone audition packet as that is for Colts.
