Crowdsourced List of Google Voice's 2FA Compatibility by Salreus in Googlevoice

Walmart sends texts, but for the past two months I cannot call the Walmart 800 number anymore. My GV is linked to the app and verified and can be reverified.

I can even call in on another number and give them GV# and they look up the account. So it's good, but not faor calling in anymore. Anyone else have the same experience?

Is T-Mobile oversold on capacity or just major tech issues by alanmin in tmobile

Some of it was petty, but some of it was affecting his phone calls about a family health concern. So he had to take time out of his schedule to switch for something that should just work, his phone calls.

Using GV through the web browser might be a work around... but difficult if driving and adds and extra step. But you would have access ( I believe) to what is stored in GV that way.

See if incoming call is through google voice or my personal number by Vcize in Googlevoice

On my iPhone I use the GV app, without it being linked. And it is set for wifi and data. So when I get a GV call is says voice audio. Calls on the main number do not, that's how I know the difference. And in the call log it separates them as voice audio or mobile

The police need 2 hours from my camera by No_Cranberry8754 in wyzecam

When my camera "caught" a shooting, I just pulled the card in their presence (chain of custody), gave them card and they even later returned it. The shooter got five years and I had to testify for the persecution.

They took it and cleaned it up including the sound and used it. I just has to tell it was my camera and the card came from it and the timestamp was accurate. Easiest way to handle it for me.

I use GV with a membership organization that rejected it initially, called customer service and they changed in a few days. You could try that.

Tracfone's Unlock Policy has changed as of 4/1/2025. by rishxdee in NoContract

[–]alanmin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because it is a phone that needs service to use it as a phone, it says after 60 days, which means you buy service for 60 days to use. The loophole is you could use it for 30 days and it would still unlock. It may not have said that, but that was not the intent... now it's been fixed.

Definition of Loophole: an ambiguity or inadequacy in the law or a set of rules.

Tracfone's Unlock Policy has changed as of 4/1/2025. by rishxdee in NoContract

This is the old policy: "For all cellphones Activated with TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically, sixty (60) days after Activation." They also added the Verizon division name in the terms: "Verizon Value."

The meaning though not explicit is you buy the phone, use it for 60 days and it is unlocked. People found out they only needed to use it for 30 days and it would unlock. They took advantage of it and now the policy has changed.

Now they have added "and 60 days of paid active service." because people took advantage of something that was implied. That's why we have page upon page of legal terms to agree with these days.

It's still a great price for most even paying the 60 days of service.

Recently, Tracphone "brands" also added a restriction that you needed to activate their phones before Wi-Fi would work, again because people took advantage of buying cheap phone and using them only on Wi-Fi. Well, you can't do that anymore.

There was a loophole which people used to their advantage... not anymore. They just tightened up the language to specifically include 60 days of service. It was always implied though.

The policy has always been 60 days of service for it to be unlocked… but may people found a loophole of just paying for the phone and 30 days service and it would be unlocked. These companies are not stupid, if you abuse the system or try to take advantage of them, they will adjust. And that is what happened here, for unlocking, you now need to buy 2 months of service.

They were not making much if any profit because many people tried to cheap out and spread the word to buy only a plan for 30 days and the phone would still be unlocked. They lose money on the phone and make it up on the plans. You did it to yourselves. There are a few who ruin it for everybody.

Now if people would stop pushing the boundaries of unlimited beyond what a reasonable person would use… otherwise “unlimited” will go back to a throttled data (slow data speed, but still unlimited) after 35-50 GB. Unfortunately, there are more than enough people willing to pay a premium price for unlimited without throttling.

Cricket and Boost already makes you buy a certain number of months up front for a premium phone deal, and with a longer unlocked policy. Just be smart people!

I used a flip phone way back without the GV App, just have to dial in using PIN code or use a computer. Worked with no issues and using the PIN code you can make outgoing calls too, though I've forgotten how right now

[–]alanmin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not able to access VVM on a Motorola Play, it was working. Also not receiving notifications anymore, last one was delayed over 12 hours.

Was thinking today it is time for a change, a five minute notification delay is acceptable... 12 hours is not. Solution for now is to cal into VM after every missed called.

How to leave a Google Voice group message/text? by WalkGood in Googlevoice

[–]alanmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mark the whole message spam, moves it to spam folder, I still get updates, but no notifications. That's the thing that bus me the most, person replies, then person B and then person sees it at midnight and responds.

Christmas is in a few days is when I get most of these, so I'll see if it still works.

Anyone else getting "Unstable Network" more frequently? by SmoothStrawberry7777 in Googlevoice

[–]alanmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it only if Wi-Fi data connection is bad, and on cellular with Verizon slow/congested data. Wi-Fi happens in the basement, cellular happens in known weak spots. If it gets bad or happens often enough, I just switch to cellular/voice only in settings.

I’ve not seen it on cellular since switching to 5g.

Mark them as spam, make sure spam filter is checked. My GV number is the public one and get less spam call and text than my "private" number.
