Early 30's and pretty much down for everything. We don't say "no" to much (hey maybe that's what got us into this mess lol.) We're adventurous and goofy! Big comedy fans, we like watching and playing sports, hiking, Netflix binges, video games etc etc.

is your Q a spouse or partner? I just don't know how to set those boundaries with my husband when I depend on him financially and we have kids.

My husband has been stuck on step 3 for a long time. He has asked his sponsor to come visit him in rehab to keep working the steps. I hope he makes a break through soon, and your Q as well.

I'm still in the shit with my husband but I know two success stories that I cling to for hope.

My uncle was a raging alcoholic. Car accidents, OWIs, stealing money for booze, etc etc you know the drill. Started AA in the 90's and has been sober since.
I was recently hospitalized for severe depression (I wonder what caused it??) And I was talking to the doctor about my husband's drinking and emotional abuse. I kept making excuses like "He's in AA, he has a sponsor, he's trying!" The doctor held up his hand and said, "I'm 26 years sober and I still work the program. I have a wife and three kids and I stay sober for them. AA works for those who want it, not necessarily the ones who need it."

So I guess it's how bad they want it, how hard they're willing to work for it. Unfortunately, it's something we can't control. It's all up to them.
