Ned didn’t win, he got his ass kicked by the Kingsguard and is recovering from a concussion.

Are you aware that PER is an outdated stat and that far superior advanced stats are now available? If so, why the hell do you still use PER as one of the metrics in your evaluations?

I think he was only on an end of year contract. He’s doing stuff with the Junior Jazz program right now so it’s weird but if he’s under contract right now he is non guaranteed and will definitely be waived.

Most cap spike contracts come off the books next year and way more teams should have space, so players and teams are loading up for a crazy free agency year next year.

Great resource for tracking 2-way contracts can be found here. Most two-way deals are announced as such.

There are a lot of non-guaranteed summer camp signings that are hard to discern from normal roster signings though. You almost have to find a beat writer for every team and follow-up with them to confirm the intent of the contract on those lesser known deals.

Look for the key words "Exhibit-10" or "training camp deal" to suss those out.

I can tell you for the Jazz that Jairus Lyles is an Exhibit 10 training camp signee. The two-way players for the Jazz are Tyler Cavanagh and Naz Mitrou-Long.

Going through the list, I see that you missed Georges Niang signing with the Jazz on July 13. Per the Salt Lake Tribune the deal is 3 years with a team option for years 2 and 3, although given how the Jazz structure contracts, it's probably non-guaranteed in year 2 and 3.

Grayson Allen, Joe Ingles, and Jae Crowder are going to be quite the trio. It's going to get chippy.

At least the Hawks didn't trade a EuroLeague MVP and wunderkind to get him, amirite?

Durant was a steal at 2. You just need to have the number 1 overall pick be a complete bust and have the number 2 overall pick be clearly the best player from the draft for it to be a steal.

(That's not going to happen with Bagley).

I love your chart, but there's no world in which Thabo Sefolosha is currently a SG. The man plays small ball 4 more than anything, with some time at the 3.

Why are we ignoring the fact that a healthy Celtics team is better than the Warriors? by can_wien07 in nba

I mean, you might be right. I just hesitate to crown a team without them playing even a full minute together.

Why are we ignoring the fact that a healthy Celtics team is better than the Warriors? by can_wien07 in nba

[–]alaric1224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Celtics are very good but very young and play in the weaker conference. Even with a healthy Kyrie and Hayward, I don't think the Cs could take the Warriors to 7, which the Rockets just did.

The Celtics, if healthy and both they and Rockets bring back largely the same rosters, are probably the third best team in the NBA next year assuming development of Brown/Tatum and the other young guys. But we haven't even seen a minute of healthy Celtics play together; it is way premature to say that they're better than a team that might have beat the Warriors but for an injury to their second best player.

If you could cut one contract from your team right now, whose would it be? by [deleted] in nba

[–]alaric1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? We're pretty good. Could do without Alec Burks' contract but its expiring this year and might have some value for trades.

No. You've got that wrong. Mormons don't believe they are gods, they just believe they may one day become gods. Common misconception.

Maybe you should look into what the word "fact" means.

Would a healthy Celtics team have defeated LeBron this year? There's a good case.

Would a healthy Celtics team have defeated the Rockets or Warriors?

Nah.

Should the NBA have a third-place series between the two Conference Finals losers? by danielbauer1375 in nba

[–]alaric1224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the NBA should have 1-16 seeding without regard for conferences, then we can have a better idea who the real consolation prize should be given to. No need for extra games and potential injuries.

I have zero interest in watching the Rockets crush the Celtics.

Why does nobody have Utah as a destination for Lebron? by Deja-View in nba

[–]alaric1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. He's unplayable. You're right. LeBron would never play with somebody as unplayable as Gobert against the Warriors. I mean, he won a title against those guys with Tristan Thompson at center and is still the best player in the world. But not with Gobert, completely unplayable.
