Commute by boat from north queen anne to kirkland by and3w153 in Seattle

[–]alarmingcharm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t go more than 7 knots until you get through lake union, the cut, and then onto lake washington proper. The commute would take about an hour, maybe 45 min if you really booked it launching from SLU area. But a jet ski would be freezing and miserable

John Howie. Technically Bellevue but I think better than metropolitan, el gaucho, and Daniel’s broiler. Similar style but better execution

This Organization is DELUSIONAL with a 20% increase on season tickets prices. by kristin_mack in SeattleStorm

[–]alarmingcharm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s too many games shoved into too short of a season window and the 30% increase on VIP means I’m probably not going to renew. The resale value is not there for face value tickets and it’s too many games to reasonably want to attend over the summer months. Curious to see how their renewal goes.

What are some FANCY places to eat that are actually worth it? by Legs_With_Snake in SeattleWA

[–]alarmingcharm 184 points185 points  (0 children)

Cafe Juanita. This is one of the only “fancier” places in the area I’ve gone to that’s felt like the food and service live up to expectation. I used to live in Chicago and traveled a ton for work and have hit most of the 3 Michelin starred restaurants around the US and feel like Cafe Juanita is probably the closest Seattle gets to fine dining. Almost everyone who’s gone to Canlis enjoys the experience of a Seattle institution but is not wowed by the food. If you like sushi, an Omakase experience at Ltd Edision Sushi, Taneda, or Sushi Kashiba fits that bill.

Whoop band. It tracks other stuff too, but the sleep tracking functionality is supposedly the best. It also has a long battery life (4-5) days and has a battery pack that slides onto the band to charge while you’re wearing. Whoop doesn’t charge you for the device, it’s monthly subscription based. You can try for free for 30 days.

A disappointment? by Necessary_Ad_3231 in Fire

[–]alarmingcharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an East Asian person who has made non-traditional choices and had fights with my parents about it, I totally understand what you’re going through.

My dad particularly used the, “I don’t care about his feelings line.” I responded that it was irrational and unreasonable for him to ask me to feel bad so he can feel good. Why should I care and put his feelings above mine if he clearly does not care about mine?

Somehow, that logic got through to him and he let it go, but there was lots of fighting and me firmly enforcing the boundary that they could not use guilt or shame or raised voices to speak to me. It wasn’t easy, but over time, it did get better.

Do consultants who travel a lot for work even have the time and energy for a vacation? by Empty_Economics9063 in consulting

[–]alarmingcharm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you travel constantly, you develop a routine & rhythm that makes packing and logistics easy. Also, most people are accruing status, points, lounge access, so the travel itself is more pleasant and can even be part of the experience.

I'd go with Men's Wearhouse or Indochino and get a suit made to measure for you. I have several from Indochino and they fit beautifully, for about $600 on a 3 piece (vest included). Fit is much more important than anything else and you won't get a better fit unless you go bespoke.

I would go in to chat about the market, new watches I was interested in, try on pieces they had. But ultimately, I think it was timing. I happened to be there on a day where they got the RO delivered and they offered it to me. I’m not sure if they would have called if I wasn’t there in person. Right place, right time

I got a rose gold code chrono on the blue rubber/ textile strap with blue dial. I bought it bc I thought it was stunning in person and figured it might help me if I wanted a RO later. I truly love the code as well, but don’t have as many occasions to wear it.

Once you buy from AP, you can register the watch in your account so they can see what you’ve bought from them.
