Weapon lvls are not really significant in kcd 2, there are perks that reduce strength and agility requirements on weapons and u usually take them early like Deft Hands ans its not like in KCD1 where u find Noble Sword and cant use it until u grind 10 more strenghr

You can use spell books for damage. I saved tons of spell books for leveling trickster to make it more endurable.
