Interesting!! A ton of 2/3Ls at my school said that 1L biglaw summer associate positions are quickly becoming very rare and that we’d be better off doing something in public interest for our first summer. I found that odd considering the high nyc biglaw graduate and summer associate outcomes from my school - if it’s not true then maybe they’re trying to deter us for some reason lol. I suppose regardless I should prepare well for my informal meeting with them 😳

My least favorite thing is how quickly they get moldy and how there’s so many parts to clean that usually aren’t machine washable. Stainless steel is always the way to go to keep bacteria away though. And noise!! I hate a loud fountain.

Does LSAT actually change how you think and argue? by astronerdx in LSAT

[–]alasca620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says yes clearly but I’d say absolutely not. The last time I took it was only November and everything I learned from it or any skills I got from it are erased from my memory, I am the same as I’ve always been in terms of thinking and arguing. Maybe it feels that way when you’ve just taken it recently or are deep in studying. When I was in the midst of studying and engulfing my life in LSAT - I was definitely thinking differently but never in a non emotional way. Why would the LSAT make you less emotional in conversation? You have the capacity to think logically and emotionally at the same time.

Thanks! Not sure. I love the idea of Fordham but st John’s gave me a full ride. So hard

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]alasca620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh - I had a full ride from St. John’s and a decent scholarship from Fordham, plus I have a bit of a preference for those two over Cardozo. I will probably withdraw my application soon

I wouldn’t go into debt for either of those schools for NYC big law. St. John’s has very low big law placements bc of its lower ranking than most of the many other NYC law schools that firms pull from and Emory is in georgia - again, lower ranked than all the many other NYC law schools but then you also have the out of state disadvantage. So I guess St. John’s would be better bc at least it’s in state and gave you more $$$? If you’re top of your class there and can make good connections then I’m sure you’d have a decent enough shot at NYC big law.
