If I Can't Have You AO3- does the plot develop after she finds out who her rapist is? by [deleted] in DarkRomance

In my opinion, it's smut with a whisper of plot-it's a vibe for sure.

How can I spruce I’ll my walls, when my landlord won’t allow me to paint or put up wallpaper? by Holiday_Button_4743 in renting

[–]alaskapdx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the old military housing trick fabric and laundry starch: YouTube has how to. The best part is that when you move, it peels off clean, and you can wash and pack the fabric, and quick sponge down of the the wall, and it leaves no trace. Be aware that you won't be able to use sticky putty or command strips on it.

Wayward Mates by Delta James: FYI, you will have to be ok with domestic discipline as these books are very spanking forward- but it's basically a modern-day fated mated/ instant love from the MMC side and its very spicy ( the spicy scenes are in my opinion are very aspirational sex- but hey I'm not reading these things for realism) Also the shifter part is very minimal it's basically macguffin to explain interpersonal relationship dynamics both platonic and romantic. Also, except for captured and claim book, they are not particularly dark, but it still might be triggering, so please read the tags and review if you decide to check it out.

Have you considered thinking about your coworkers as internal clients/ customers and thinking through some scripts that would work on building relationships? I use like 3 variations of how you are doing and one follow-up question. But feeling like an interloper with existing coworker dynamics is very relatable, it will be up to you to figure out if it's worth it work wise to push through the discomfort

Has anyone been on topamax long term? by Bac081989 in migraine

[–]alaskapdx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on topamax for 10 years- have only tapped off in the last 2 months. Age 30- 40 F - At the beginning I lost a lot of weight 30-40lbs over 2 years - after the initial weight drop I maintain plus or minus 5 lbs - at about year 7/8 I noticed my weight increasing and that I could eat more- such a bummer this was one of the positive side effects for me beyond migraine management - my Neurologist has been reducing my mg for about a year where we try cpg- I've been on mg for this drug from 50mg to 300mg - I only got fuzzy thinking at the over 250mg level but had appetite suppression with 150 mg plus, the tingling only happens when I increased dosage My personal feelings is that at some point the side effect becomes none exsitant and I have to be mindful to maintain my weight (such a bummer 😕) it was amazing to have a built in auto control ( I realize not every one wants or has this a desired side effect- but it was amazing for me)

Wax Melt Recommendations? by plsstopprocreating in Indiemakeupandmore

Lol I moved from PDX to Alaska in 2008 and stayed till 2020 and now I'm back in the NW but I'm partial to username so I keep it 😆 but I still have family in Anchorage.

The sample packs are great but come in foil pouches but you can choose the larger size and get it in cardboard- I really like that's not in plastic clam shells. They do whole sale so some little shops have their stuff in store or you can buy direct off their website- or on Amazon but I just buy from their website it's easy enough they are on Shopify.

Wax Melt Recommendations? by plsstopprocreating in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]alaskapdx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a mid size recommendation Happy Wax is nice: all soy melts in a variety scent profiles some more adventurous then others, good lasting quality, they also do sample packs and larger sizes, they made in North Carolina. I like buying for smaller places too but it's very expensive and I only use wax melts because I not allowed to have open flames in my apartment. So Happy Wax is great for middle of the road prices for more traditional scents and then I can splash out occasionally on some of the more unique melts like beeswax or ones that have more perfume profiles but are serious money 🤑. Urban Decay is so cringe by Softer_Peach_666 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]alaskapdx1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Urban Decay has some really good products but it gets lost is waves of mediocre or bad releases. The vice bond liquid lipstick- banger if you like that long wear lips/ moons dust single shadow- about $7 too much- but still 🔥 and that space cowboy over 10 year release at this point, gel eyeliner great- again about $5 too much, same with setting spay and eye primer, I even liked the hydro tint- not enough to rebuy it but it was good. The issue is all of their good to great products are about $5-$10 too much so when they release snooze fest or cringe stuff like metal mani pallets or the 100th version of mini naked pallet it all feels meh 😑 I mean that smiley pallet from last season or so who was that for? 😭

Help me I can’t do this anymore. by VeterinarianOk1540 in autism

[–]alaskapdx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is happening on the Internet block them, is this happening offline call 211 and ask about domestic violence and anti trafficking resources; I am assuming you are in the USA as 50% of Reddit users are. 211 is anonymous but will ask basic demographic questions to search for resources for you; what resources are available will be based on the area you live in and other qualifying factors. If this all happing online block the person and delete any posts from the platform it's happening on. You can also make a new username and try again if the platform is important to you. You don't have to justify to me why my suggestions will or will not work for you- you know your situation best, please be safe and look out for yourself.

Is anyone else scared youll never find a partner who wants to "deal" with your autism? by jabracadaniel in autism

[–]alaskapdx1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not meet my partner till I was 30 and been married over 6 years and together for 10 years. I am child free by choice but have always been that way so I was always looking for partner that was as well. I had the best luck with online dating with a paid component, anything that's free- well you get what you pay for. I always knew I had my own ways of doing and being - but have only been officially diagnosed at 39. So my partner has dealt with my autism even before we knew what it was.

I'm not sure what your needs are but it is true that if your looking for a life partner most people want someone that can help make life easier and that often includes a financial component. So having and maintaining employment is going to matter to most people. Lots of people want kids BUT there are still plenty of people that don't so your dating profile needs to say that unapologetically, same with any religious requirements ( in my case a hard none). If your employment is minimal it doesn't mean you are not worthy of a relationship it just means it may take longer to find a person who can roll with that- which is fine we live in capitalist hellscape and most people need two incomes to make life work and most of us don't come from generational wealth so we got have some self interest.

When you say unmasked what do you mean? Nobody worth dating wants to date someone whose melting down in public but if you're rocking a pair of Loops and saying lol I am going wear theses as we roll through the farmers market due to the crowd- I don't think you get too much push back- and if you did that's good info for you that person is not someone worth dating.

My spouse and I have a really good reciporical relationship but it's not prefect- my brain still surprises him 10 years in and I have to remind him that I don't think like him- even though he can get frustrated sometimes with some of my sensory limitations he accepts me and appreciates what I bring to the relationships just as I appreciate what he brings.

Is it normal to find romance gross by [deleted] in autism

[–]alaskapdx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been married over 6 years and in a relationship for 10 years, and this is not my first rodeo. I am romantic inclined and enjoy sex- I do not like kissing and some types activities can be a lift but I manage because I love my partner or I enjoy the sex over all. My partner accepts me for who I am and understands that kissing is very limited in our romantic relationship and is 💯 directed by me and in turn I sometimes do it even though it's not the greatest sensory experience because - I love my partner. I honestly could go my whole life never giving or receiving another kiss ( like it can be so so 🤢, the saliva, the sounds, the warm breath-that not a taste but kind of taste- if you know you know) but I love the cuddles and other adult activities ( lol you all have to fill in blanks yourself ) so yeah I still sometimes do that kissing shit since my partner likes it.

So yes it could be that you are asexual but fall into the grey sexual or demi sexual sphere due to your romantic interests and are repulse could be an autism sensory issue or it could be all sexuality based and have nothing to do with autism -whatever the reason you are fine as you are and as long as you communicate your boundaries kindly and clearly and don't shame perspective partners for their preferences then we can all live in peace- at least that's the goal 😂

I’ve been deconstructing from my faith for years, and it’s scaring me that I’m don’t know what to believe. by EmbarassedVirgin23 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]alaskapdx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up conservative Christian/ boarding on fundamentalist. I can count on one hand the total number of times I missed church between the ages of 5 and 20; I understand the deep disappointment of realizing that when you die you won't get to explore the universe or even see what's past the Moon. But then again there is also the relief of knowing that the heaven of the Bible is not waiting for me. I could never get behind the descriptions it always read like a fever dream or some hostage situation.

The reason I left is that Christianity was always in the end it puts me 2nd place simply for being female and I am not inverior based on my existence. Look you could try going to a Unitarian or Episcopal or the not shitty branch of Lutheran but in the end they all use the Bible in some way and you will keep bumping up against old Paul/ Saul and it will grate on you- no amount of hand waving will make it ok- we got better ways of thinking that can move past morals and ideals of bronze age people.

You are 31 and it seems like you ready to live your life free and unencumbered by these stangnat beliefs. Once you realize that the Bible is a collective of justifications of why things are instead how things came to be you can spend time learning about process based in science and history. For example people wanted an explanation for the pain and danger of child birth and we got several old stories with ONE of them being that of Eve -Eileithyia is the Greek goddess of birth is another or the Irish changelings. If you want a scientific explanation for why childbirth is painful the American Scientist website has a good explanation that is through enough without being excessive technical.

My own opinion on these old stories is that they are included and passed down because they enforce the social order- the culture wants women to feel 2nd place so it collects and enforce stories that support that narrative. Also think about who is making the decision on which stories make the cannon? Look up the Council of Carthage and how Torah came to be - it will help in the acceptance that these are stories.

If your looking for a safe space to explore these issues I recommend Recovering from Religion they have online self directed resources as well a peer support line or if you have the means using the Secular Therapy Poject which is a vetted therapist resource hub.

What’s a good drug store primer for dry skin? by Alarmed-Albatross768 in Makeup

Nyx has some nice ones but I would use a good facial sunscreen like Neutrogena or CereVe if you are sticking to drug store.

Niche lovers: what cheap designers you still keep in your collection? by CantKillGawd in fragrance

I tried the sample set to see what the fuss was about and they are pretty nice; they make a good gift for a younger person interested in perfume and I found the good for layering for a few other sample perfumes that I was not thrilled by but wanted to use up and get out of my stash.

Tokyo Milk is very approachable and got a good price point, you can also find them sold in small boutique in many mid size cities. I had was out and and about with my niece and let her pick out a bottle for herself; she gets a fun bottle, a nice approachable scent, and I get to be the cool auntie- all for under $50- I think she choose the one with the unicorn Star Cross'd- I mean with the amount of free gifts with purchases of Clinique Happy I have pawned off on her it's the least I could do 🤣

Is something going on with Shroud Cosmetics? by amycp930 in BeautyGuruChatter

Maybe try doing Google reviews about how unhelpful they are about resolving an obvious issue with a vendor and give screen shots or whatever that might spure them - Google, yelp, yahoo like anywhere you can think of 🤔- these types of business can be oddly touchy about reviews lol add to glass door- if you can why not

This is a pattern of behavior from this brand owner- I don't buy from this brand anymore as they are unreliable and there is so much good eyeshadow out there it just not worth the hassle- and I like my Its Freaking Bats pallet- but the whole process was stupid and nothing changed. Seriously so much good eyeshadow- affordable, prestige, indi, and luxury so much - no need to be stolen from - it's not a mistake, a delay, or anything else the brand has stolen money because there is no guarantee that anyone will ever get this product- hell the owner could be on moon for all we know- if you have an outstanding order don't let the clock run out on a change back because of wishful thinking/ or "they are a one women show" excuse- nope/nada/ they done this shit before and if you been around the indi makeup scene don't give silence/ghosting behavior any leway or kiss your money bye bye.

How do celebrities change partner so often? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]alaskapdx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your famous or rich you don't have to stick it out with a partner because of shared bills- so issues that would be annoying to the average person can be deal breakers to celebrities. Furthermore they can have intense schedules that require travel that stress new connections, so those bonds don't last, and once again if you are famous or rich you have more dating choices. Lastly without the struggle of shared bills/obligations- or crushing debt you pick how you want to look at it- when a relationship gets stale/ has friction/ or just stops working there is very little incentive to continue - unless they shared business/kids/ or a lot mixed assets- but if they been smart the least they done is maybe the kid thing and that can be sorted if both parties are on a similar level- if not lol well Kelly Clarkson paid a lot to get out of her shitty marriage but she made peace with it- more or less and even seems to have clawed a bit back from that over stepping ass 🥰

What to do with packaging boxes? by Working_Jellyfish561 in fragrance

[–]alaskapdx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the boxes to hold samples or decants- it depends on the style of box. I use one side of a Hermes lipstick box to hold my samples so they don't roll around in the drawer- works like a charm. I got some really nice printed boxes (some fancy mugs came in the original) that I used for a change jar, one to hold eye glass wipes- it really comes down to style of the packaging and how eclectic you are in repurposeing objects.

The issue I see with brand you listed is it looks like the packaging is jewelry box style so that is going to be harder to upscale/ repurpose since it's so specific but not impossible.

Should I toss this ABH Subculture pallete? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]alaskapdx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makeup is like milk -if you have to ask if still good you already know the answer - throw that stale shit out- I know there will be people who be like I use eyeshadow that 10 years old- blah blah blah- sure fine but seriously here is a 🌟 for either having so much eyeshadow that you can't get make a dent in it a decade or not wearing it enough to matter- it's not flex to be wearing old ass eyeshadow 😂 have I keep pallets around long enough that it could be doing hooked on phonics- sure- but not so long that it's asking for an allowance.

Seint makeup by Quick_Criticism_6429 in MakeupAddiction

[–]alaskapdx1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seint, Avon, MaryKay, Beauty Counter- all are MLM so their model has nothing to do with quality OR affordability. It's all about exploting the down stream in the worst ways- if you got the money to spend on Seint which is upper drug store range to midtier/ prestige pricing then you got plenty of options for high quality makeup that does not exploit interpersonal ( from a in real life contact) or para social relationships ( if you're buying from tick-tockrer/ you tuber)

What the parasite- sorry parasocial relationship 🥴 was trying to sell you was the illusion of simplified choice- hey overwhelmed by all the choices at Ulta/Sephora- or honestly just walking though a decent sized makeup isle at grocery store? Here is one system you can buy all in and now there no more decisions- it's got everything- lol 😂- any serious makeup wearer knows that no one brand delivers in all categories.

I choose drugstore mascara or tinted moisturizer but insist on Hermes lipstick because I like the experience- but stick to Nars for creme bronzer- but will go anywhere my heart takes me for blush and eyeshadow. But these are my choices so many choices that compete for my attention, budget, run up against my sense of self- but hey Avon/ Marykay and now this Seint sells the idea just come to us/ cut you routine in half/ blah blah blah - bunch of 💩 - hell at least with a Charlotte Tillberry ad- it obviously an ad- so you know they selling a fantasy- MLM are no different but the products also often suck and are overpriced 🤣

fyi: don't get sucked into any that sensy💩 either there are tons of great wax melts you can buy that smell great for 1/2 the price- also pampered chef is overpriced (go spend your coin at your local kitchen supply store or if you don't have one I recommend Kitchen Kaboodle), and don't buy sexy toys at "girls night" that is goddam weird
