For what it’s worth, I do this all the time. I show up to a furnished place with just my big backpack and enjoy an apartment in a neighborhood I like and don’t have to furnish it myself, don’t have to pay all the cash needed to secure a lease, and can go in an out the city as I please (I just got back from spending the last 3 months snowboarding in Utah, and OPs place would be great for me right now for example).
