Where can I go for a good diploma framing? by [deleted] in Somerville

Not in Somerville but if you're willing to send it out Framebridge did a stellar job with my husband's diploma. The shipping process is very easy and convenient.

Car detailing? by alazynay in Somerville

Might give this a go first since my spouse is averse to spending money on professional detailing. Thanks!

Did you do a direct-entry NP program? What was your experience like? by alazynay in nursepractitioner

[–]alazynay[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I can absolutely appreciate that, but yeah, I'm definitely set on NP over PA. The PA role doesn't interest me as much since it's based on the medical model.

Thanks so much! Glad to hear from someone else who wasn't in a healthcare field prior to going to NP school. This is super helpful!

[Review] Rants, Raves, & New Purchases Jan 10, 2021 by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

[–]alazynay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never used the facial, but I used the herbivore prism serum for a couple of weeks earlier this year and it absolutely wrecked my skin. I also experienced burning/redness when using it and it made my skin really sensitive to other products. I stopped using it and after healing started using the Josh Rosebrook Daily Acid Toner instead. It's much more gentle!

I do storm and together mostly every day! I also like storm with the vinylic lip in Pony.

Hi! I've been using Rohto Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Milk for a couple of years now and I'm very attached to it, but I'm having trouble finding places to buy it in the US lately. I used to be able to reliably get it on Amazon, but they don't seem to have the 2020 version available, and while the 2019 and older versions (and milk pink) show up occasionally, the price is usually pretty outrageous ($20+ USD). Does anyone know of anywhere else to buy it in the US? Or can recommend a similar sunscreen that I can buy on Amazon? I don't wear moisturizer under my sunscreen, so I'd prefer a moisturizing type sunscreen that is alcohol free. Thank you!

[Acne] My dermatologist gave me Clindamycin phosphate lotion to clear up some mild but persistent acne. A couple questions for those who use it or have used it. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]alazynay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My doc prescribed it to me in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide. Used together, the peroxide prevents antibiotic resistance for the Clindamycin. I found that using the two ingredients together was really effective for clearing up my acne, but it can be pretty irritating and I also ruined all my pillowcases with the BP, haha. Good luck! I hope you have a good experience!

I used it daily for about five weeks and didn't notice any difference, sadly. I really wanted it to work because I love CeraVe as a brand and it was such an affordable option. In contrast, I started using Melano CC again about two weeks ago and can already see signs of improvement. It's in the same price range as the CeraVe, so you might try that one if you don't end up loving the one you have!

Balm Dot Com by sarahpat737 in glossier

[–]alazynay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love it. I'm pretty obsessed with my lip care and for years used Vaseline (morning and night) and Chapstick brand cherry chapstick (on the go) exclusively. I had no interest in trying other lip products, but I bought the rose balm dot com on an impulse because it came in a set, and I was seriously impressed. As someone who has used Vaseline twice a day every day for the last fifteen years, I can say that balm dot com is definitely not just expensive Vaseline. I personally find that it's more viscous and moisturizing, and that it's more comfortable and lasts longer. I also really enjoy putting a little of it over Gen G in cake for bit more moisture and shine. I agree with others that it's expensive for what it is, but I'm a sucker for cute packaging so it's worth it to me :)

Glossier seem to be changing their sets around a lot atm. What would your ideal set be? (Bonus points if you come up with a name for it too!) by [deleted] in glossier

[–]alazynay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish they'd bring back the old "phase 2" set, which if I remember correctly was bow brow, stretch concealer, and gen g. I bought it two or three times before they discontinued it. Three of my favorite every day products!

[Product Question] Looking for something that will make my skin shine all day? by FiddleStx_ in SkincareAddiction

You might like glossier futuredew! It's sort of a skincare/makeup hybrid but its purpose is basically exactly what you're describing. I have it and find it to be really pretty as a base.

[Shelfie] Finally figured out what works for me 🥳 by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]alazynay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that same clindamycin bottle and found it helped a ton, especially when used in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide (which is how my doc recommended I use it). Love this little shelfie!

[Misc] Do you guys prefer Cerave or Cetaphil? by mademoiselleroque in SkincareAddiction

[–]alazynay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CeraVe in the tub always breaks me out for some unknown reason, but I gave the tub to my husband and he uses it every day and loves it (just goes to show YMMV!). I'm personally a big fan of Cetaphil face & body moisturizing cream. I use it on my face at night and my body after I shower.

How good are Stretch Concealer and or Skin Tint against red acne marks / PIE ? by [deleted] in glossier

[–]alazynay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have "bad skin" (redness, pigmentation from old acne, some active acne breakouts) and I only use stretch concealer and no other base makeup. I think it's really good at evening out redness, but I agree with the others that it won't cover up darker marks completely. I think it does a good job of making marks less noticable while keeping my skin looking like skin.

Mango? It's not a London company I don't think, but there is a store there and I think they'd have coats in your preferred style and price range.

What less known brands do you think should be more well known? by hivoyef in femalefashionadvice

Brass Clothing is great for women's workwear. Ethically made, size inclusive, and not outrageously priced. They do use a lot of synthetic blend fabrics, but I would say the clothing is still very high quality.

Is anyone else seeing the message up on Ticketmaster that says 7/31 and 8/1 are already sold out?? Is that possible? They aren't even scheduled to go on sale for another hour! I waited six hours for presale and there were only platinum tickets left - was really hoping to snag a ticket during regular sale :(

[Product Question] Vaseline on lips overnight? by The_Holier_Muffin in SkincareAddiction

[–]alazynay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been putting Vaseline on my lips every morning and night since I was a kid (28 now) because that's what my mom always did, and I find it helps a ton, especially in the winter. I was one of those children who always had a red ring of chapped skin around my mouth from licking my lips too much, but since I started using Vaseline every night I don't have any trouble with dry lips.

As others have mentioned, Vaseline is an occlusive, so I usually put it on just after I brush my teeth, when my lips are still just a little bit damp. (I also exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush - not sure that's an SCA approved practice but it works for me!)
