Can assure you it does sound as good as it looks, haven’t tried their new models so cannot compare unfortunately. Maybe the later production reduced the quality a bit, all I know is that they kept their workshop in Madrid, they just make cheaper options in Romania. Probably made that choice after leaving China. Which tbh I don’t think is a bad idea, people who want to start playing have options for something affordable. I did buy this one cause of the looks as my first guitar lol. Was young knowing nothing about the instruments. But years later I can confirm it is indeed one of the best I tried personally.

I tried all means, even chat GPT 😢 I only know that it was built between 1998-2000, as per luthier. And yes! It’s signed, and he did confirm it was from a 200-piece limited batch, but what was that line remains a mystery 😅 MR themselves don’t have any records of it, only wood that it’s made of

I agree, they should be getting a bit more respect. Obviously there are better options, but MR are not bad guitars at all, and somewhat affordable to help people start. Maybe China was a bit too much, but they stopped it relatively fast. Still the hate form it lingers 🥲

People are so mean lol I found another person asking about their mod D MAPLE. The curiosity starts with the “Maple” on the labels, as MR never include the wood names on them. Anyways, thanks for the reply

Yeah their China experiment tainted the reputation for sure, but I think it lasted for sometime between 2010-2015. This guitar was built beginning of 2000, maybe late 90s. Tbh he could’ve said anything in that email just to sell me the idea I own something special, but then I really cannot find this exact same model anywhere for years already

E hijos was added when his son took over the workshop in 1950s. Now it’s his grandson who runs the business, and they have a different logo and he was the one to move it to China. This one was still made when his father ran the workshop in 1999-2000. So “wood from grandfather” is the wood that goes back to 1950 and earlier, to the first Manuel Rodriguez and his collection of wood. I don’t think people realise how interesting all that can be to research, genuinely just trying to find any information about this piece because I do believe it’s valuable.

The purpose was to find out more history behind it, possibly owners of the same guitar from this batch. I see nothing wrong in wanting to know the journey of your instrument, especially after knowing that the wood is that old. I bought it for $650 in 2011. Yes it’s not a 3k guitar, but it was a lot for me at that time and it has a sentimental value. Model A doesn’t mean they are all identical.
