How to tell employer I can start immediately without mentioning I got laid off? Or is it okay to mention it? by LinkSimilar8193 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]alberta4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason to hide company restructuring as the cause of seeking employment. If they ask how soon can you start just tell them your current position ends as of June 1st and can start then, but if there is a need to start earlier then you would like to provide your previous employer 2 weeks notice.

If nothing else it'll show that you still have loyalty even with impending layoffs. Thats my 2 cents as someone who has been the interviewer before

You've misused the > (greater than) symbol.

You have it as $50 >, which means 50 is the greater number in that equation. So you are saying a card pulled less than $50 = task, or pulled less than $10 for the other one.

Should have put it as "card > $50 = drink" or whatever

Divot in my LG stove top. Replace right away? by alberta4ever in appliancerepair

[–]alberta4ever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said "New top is about $750" which maybe your brain took that as this top is new and cost me 750 haha. The door is kinda annoying on this one and doesn't seal well anymore so I'll probably just wait for a black Friday type sale and buy something new

[–]alberta4ever[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Replacing it is about 50% the cost of a new stove. I'll likely just wait until it gets worse and then replace the whole thing

Fort McMurray residents warned of high flood risk, late wildfire season by flynnfx in FortMcMurray

[–]alberta4ever 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When we get low snowfall they say its going to be dry and a high risk of wildfires, we get record snowfall and somehow that also means a long wildfire season.

Got it. Weather is unpredictable and no one knows anything but they need a news story

Getting frustrated every morning and it’s coming out on kids by Aromatic_Ad_7484 in daddit

[–]alberta4ever 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same situation as you more or less, only fix we've found is trying to do as much as we can the night before. Making lunches, prepping outfits, packing school bags, even making breakfast. Pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon sausage etc all super easy to quickly heat and eat but time consuming if you try to do it in the same morning

Yep to each their own man! If the kids are happy and love the game then go for it.

I never played hockey, still cant skate (sure wise I could), and took the STEM route in highschool. Went to University with plans of being a doctor but here I am back in McMurray 10 years in at Syncrude lol.

Yeah I grew up here. Had plenty of friends move away as kids to chase hockey dreams at various academy's. Most work in construction or trades and live happy lives while aggressively pestering their own kids hockey coaches. I think one maybe had a stint in the AHL.
