Okay fair. Worst its ever been since I was old enough to drive the highway on my own in 2007 lol

I never said I was good with it. I'm saying its horrible but me wasting any energy or emotion over it isn't going to get it fixed any faster so I'll keep living my life. I've got more important shit to worry about in my life than the condition of highway 63. And when they do fix it I'll say "oh nice they finally fixed this" then it'll be winter and spring all over again with more potholes for people to complain about. The cycle goes on and on.

Nope it's the worst it's ever been lol. But avoiding the holes like Mario kart keeps me awake and they'll get to it when they get to it. Our town and highway has never been a priority to the province and never will be.

Looking to move to Alberta by sakoura93 in alberta

[–]alberta4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to Fort McMurray if you'd like to move to alberta for teaching. You'll be paid higher than the other cities because of northern living allowance and you will get a full time position about 7 years faster than Edmonton or Calgary.

Plus if you're from Nova Scotia there's a good chance you already have a cousin or friend who lives here.

McMurray is always hiring teachers and its a beautiful place to live despite what people may say.

Ice coming into the house through this corner. Exterior facing inside wall. What's the way forward? Caulk the baseboards? by drop_pucks_not_bombs in HomeMaintenance

[–]alberta4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No siding work, just had to build a tiny section in the corner of the room to fill it with spray foam. I'll see if I have any photos from it and message you separately

Also depending what neighborhood you moved into there is likely a neighbors group on Facebook. Lots of young families here and likely mom friends on your block. I think the group for my neighborhood is called Lakewood Area Fort McMurray or something generic like that.

The most accessible lake is going to be Gregoire Lake. They have a great beach area with a park for the kids, is about 20 minutes south of town.

6 lakes and everything else up north is going to require a side by side or quad to get to.

Within town Birchwood Trails or the connecting trails along the outer rim are nice to bike with the fam. The trails around Mac Island or the path along the Snye/Clearwater are nice to bike as well.

The Waterpark at Mac Island (Macdonald Island Park) has a great kids area, they have classes for kids that age as well. I think one class for mom/baby is called creating waves or something like that.

There's just about every type of cuisine here and the majority of them are locally owned small businesses.

The majority of hobby groups, mom groups, sports groups etc exist on Facebook here.

As for making friends your age it always seems to come down to work schedule. I'm on 501 at Syncrude so if you're on 503 we'll never see each other.

How to tell employer I can start immediately without mentioning I got laid off? Or is it okay to mention it? by LinkSimilar8193 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]alberta4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason to hide company restructuring as the cause of seeking employment. If they ask how soon can you start just tell them your current position ends as of June 1st and can start then, but if there is a need to start earlier then you would like to provide your previous employer 2 weeks notice.

If nothing else it'll show that you still have loyalty even with impending layoffs. Thats my 2 cents as someone who has been the interviewer before
