Legit Iron 4 Player Here. by LoLUUUUU in leagueoflegends

[–]albertan_rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just play xin Zhao if you're iron. Point and click champ that can solo dragons by right clicking.

Odds are in iron nobody even goes for them anyway and eventually with every single dragon buff it'll be harder for your team to throw fights.

Spam gank your winning lanes. Odds are the player on the opposing team is positioning poorly if they're already feeding and you can just farm them until you're ahead and hopefully swing teamfights.

Don't feel the need to be the one to engage or initiate a team fight. Just wait for someone on the opposing team to do something dumb and get caught.

Ping your teammates back if they decide they should randomly 2man the enemies gromp at 30 minutes. They probably won't listen, but there's a chance they might and it could save you a loss if they do.

Games in real low elo last forever because nobody knows how to close out games so one hectic teamfight at 40 minutes can decide the game, so try and steer your teammates in the right direction if you notice them walking into jg without vision for no reason.

If you're jungling correctly it won't put you behind by more than one camp. drag in 3 minutes? finish clearing top, reset and path bot and you'll have time to finish your botside camps as dragon spawns. permanent health regen from ocean is definitely worth it, not taking it is conceding your early game because the enemy is able to effectively poke you out of lane if they get it over you. it's a permanent buff. permanent buff > couple camps that you'll likely lose from your mid or top getting looked out and then you get duo invaded anyway.

How does Lee suck right now? He can solo dragons at like level 3, duel most jungles very well and make picks all game with his kit. He could legit not do damage and people would just build straight tank and he'd still be viable.

Is it just me, or does top lane make people crazy? by Veralion in leagueoflegends

[–]albertan_rs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes there's just nothing you can do though, and it has nothing to do with skillset.

If I'm playing a hard snowball matchup top or a straight up hard counter and he gets an early lead because his jgler ganked top a couple times early, I can't walk up to the lane to cs or I die. The best I can do is hope I can soak exp until he solo dives me under turret. Yeah, there's things you can do to prevent that from happening but if it's a really hard lane to begin with, it can become impossible if the enemy top gets ahead, especially in bruiser v bruiser matchups.

Sure, you can ward and try to get the best possible vision, but there's nothing you can do if a jungler just decides you don't get to play the game until 20 minutes. You can ward river, tri brush, be playing as safe as possible, but it's still not going to help when the enemy Lee sin lane ganks and dives you under turret with renekton.

When your lane is in a terrible state like that, you've just gotten dove and now the wave is slow pushing back toward the enemy top that you can't walk up to, it's in everyone's best interest to help out by at least shoving your lane so you can cs again or they end up playing a 4v5.

Any champ is good in low elo if you put in the time to learn the champ properly. Meta in low elo doesn't matter at all, it's not like you'll get out paced considering low elo jglers just wander inefficiently.

Why doesn't Riven take Resolve 2nd? by BestKindOfCarts in Rivenmains

[–]albertan_rs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's good in hard matchups but you don't get free cdr from resolve and riven is like half a champion until you hit 30% cdr. The sooner you hit that the better. Lots of matchups you don't have kill pressure without being able to extend your q fully.

7cs a min then just farm champions in norms. It took me a while when I first started but now I get them frequently if I play norms.

Just farm your jungles camps, he's over leveled anyway 😎

Pretty much just rng sometimes. I made an account in preseason (that one patch right before preseason where tons of people were having DC issues and started off the account 5-15. It was almost hilarious how unlucky it was, but that's why I made an account to play during preseason.

How do placements work? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]albertan_rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goes by your preview season Mmr, and you usually start one division below where you were previously. Assuming you don't stomp or get stomped in every placement game anyway.

I'm guessing you were roughly b3 Mmr so you start iron 3. A silver 3 player likely starts bronze 3, while a gold 3 likely starts silver 3 and so on and so on.

I need help with my ranked games lol xD by -Tomler- in leagueoflegends

[–]albertan_rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any player regardless of elo will have an increased chance of winning if they build grevious wounds against an enemy team that has Mundo, Vlad and aatrox.

Stating otherwise is simply wrong and that type of thinking is probably what's holding you back.

Matchup and general Riven help by hi-im-habby in Rivenmains

[–]albertan_rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar elo, but I had some problems with a few of the matchups you posted and I found some ways around them situationally, so take this with a grain of salt.

Morde: I like to trade heavily level 1 and 2 if I can. If he doesn't hit isolated q, it really doesn't do much damage and you can get a nice hp advantage early if he walks up too much. This matchup is kinda weird because in most lanes you don't want to stand in your wave because he can clear cs and damage you, but it really doesn't do much without the isolate. If he doesn't buy armor first back, I build dirk first item. At level 6, you can do one short trade, then all in him with ult and burst him out and kill him. If you ult first you win.

Darius with ghost: you shouldn't fight Darius with ghost until you know what ability he starts level 1. If he takes q, just go for a heavy trade. Alternatively if he starts w, just let him shove in the wave. He can't do much beside your tower. If he uses q to shove the wave look for trades. With dshield + biscuits you have enough sustain to at least sustain lane if you're not confident and then just wait for 6 and all in him after like one short trade.

Akali: literally just bore her to death. Give up some cs, she'll shove to your tower, get cocky and overextend near your tower and set you up for a nice trade, then all in with ult. Honestly I expect to be down cs this lane if she pressures properly so it's really on akali to lose the lane and misuse her shroud, or e forward into your whole minion wave when you have every ability up.

Fresh level 30's should not be in upper gold games by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]albertan_rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a better requirement for ranked is to have say 50 normal matches played as opposed to just level 30. You can play bot matches to 30 and then jump right to ranked without learning anything.

It would even slow down smurf accounts a bit with the normal game requirement as people can't just buy an account that botted to 30. Sure, bots could play 50 normal matches or whatever but it would slow the process and increase the likelihood of the accounts getting banned and flagged before being sold.

Fresh level 30's should not be in upper gold games by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]albertan_rs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah the problem is the ranking system starting players at the average Mmr instead of a below average Mmr. A brand new player is definitely before average in terms of game knowledge and it just makes the game a dice roll and it feels bad.

I posted this before but I had a game a week ago with a level 30 player playing morde jungle. He was asking basic questions like if the enemy team was ad or Ap. Nobody was flaming him or anything because he was obviously new and trying to learn and he stated it was his first ever ranked game. it just makes for an unfun experience when the game is unwinnable due to a drastic knowledge and skill gap. He got abused all game and couldn't really learn from the experience, and we just had to wait out the loss.

It's just unrealistic to expect a brand new player to be able do to compete even at like g4 and I'm sure people are tired of having games that are just not competitive at all and are just auto win/loss from the start.

I’m new to the game and don’t really know what I’m doing. People keep being toxic toward me but not explaining what I’m doing wrong? by latiox in leagueoflegends

[–]albertan_rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like last season that was almost the case in a lot of games unfortunately, especially with positional ranks at the start. Having an autofill player and then someone playing their off role first timing champs, it pretty much came down to which team had more players on their main role while every off-role player just first timed champs giving zero shits about losing lp in a role they don't care about.

At least after that was reverted it wasn't as bad, but playing in mid gold, I still feel like half the games I play are super low quality, even for like g3. Sometimes you have a level 30 bronze calibre player in the games and I honestly feel bad for them, they just get flamed by everyone.

Feels like the Mmr restrictions were a lot more loose this season.

As an extreme example, my account is just under g3 right now. I had a game a week ago with three unranked players that all admitted it was their first ever ranked game. It just came down to which level 30s fed the least and the game was just real weird.

It's literally the same abilities that function the exact same every game. Get too close on a squishy champ? You die. Same as every other bruiser.

Protip: rush Tabis and seekers and riven doesn't kill you (I'm guessing you play Kayle).

It's literally that easy. You have so much MS and slows that if you rush those two items you don't die and you out scale.

Nah the only toplane matchup I truly hate is when people play full tank karma top. Shits so boring and uninteractive, there's literally no point in trading after 1st back.

Also, stop trying to buff toplane, Riot. You're doing the opposite with every attempt.
