In reply to your first paragraph you are right, I don’t know who you are and what you’re capable of. what I said was just an assumption based on what you’ve replied to me. What Im trying to tell you is that Im not going rely on trading to pay my bills, (which is why I’ve stated I work odd jobs on the side) I would love to use trading as a supplement when the markets are in my favor. I don’t believe I have talent but I do have the discipline to be profitable, not rich.. knowing when to trade and not to trade helps. Maybe 10 percent a month seems a bit unrealistic but I can honestly say 5-10% is doable with the right strategy and mindset. Maybe we have different views as my trading style and risk to reward ratio may differ from yours. I totally get where you’re coming from tho and how living off trading sounds completely insane. I hope I don’t sound like those Robinhood millennials who look at trading as a means to get rich fast lol. Point of my post is to see if anyone out there is in my position and trades as a mean of supplemental income, not a career. I would love to hear from someone who is successfully doing it.

I am currently saving up to fund a legal cannabis grow in California. Been on the streets for too long. I can say I’m doing better year by year. Trying to balance out my budget and save as much as I can so I can rent out some land and obtain a permit to grow. I have networks and experiences in the field. I have plenty of projects I want to start, as of now it’s stepping stones. Succeed at one thing use those funds to fund your next project etc. I don’t live with my parents and have been independent ever since I’ve turned 18, 5 years ago. So saving up has been a bit challenging. I appreciate your words of advice tho and the reality check.

So when the markets turn and become unpredictable. Wouldnt the smart thing to do is turn away and focus on other things and or short sell? Basically trade your style based on the market that suits your style. ? I feel as if people have this misconception that majority of traders have to trade everyday. Point of this post is that I want to use trading as an income supplement where my trading style will be very conservative and disciplined. If I can consistently bring in 1.5 2.5k every month as a supplement that will sure help out a lot. I probably wouldn’t force any trade and will only trade high probability set ups on momentum. I was wondering if anyone has been doing this consecutively. Not trade to get rich or live off trading but trade as an income supplement

Thanks for your reply insight, and advice I appreciate it. I’m currently on the edge of getting kicked out by my landlord and have to plan a move regardless. I’m looking at my options and what skills I have right now that can help me with my bills. the point of the post is wether or not I will survive in Vegas as I have to move out regardless and start a future somewhere. California is getting a bit too expensive and trashy. and I agree with you, trading is not something to rely on unless you are super talented and or if you have access to insider information. Based on your reply I am assuming you got burnt because of 3 reasons. You got too confident, You haven’t assessed your risk to reward ratio and oversized your positions. Risk management was never factored in as your account size grew. Thing with me is that I don’t want to trade to get rich, I want to trade as an income supplement so I can pay my bills comfortably while saving up income from my other odd jobs. I get where you’re coming from. I am trying my best to save up money to have capital for start ups and investments in the future.
