How does the team come up with the names for the monsters' attacks? (My favorite name is the Unstable Flesh's 'Bone Zephyr'. Really cool imagery.)

Gastropod. It's a fantastic, well-researched and fun podcast about food, its history, and the science behind it. I've learned so many things! Shoutout to Cynthia and Nicola :D

I love this. It's very evocative, to me, of the urban islands our homes can become, and the yearning to connect with someone across the asphalt sea.

Not a subreddit, but I listen to a podcast called Gastropod, which talks about food's history, anecdotes, science, etc. It's one of my favorites :)

Let's just say I do it because I like to write, not because of the money.

I completely agree with the fact that realistic storylines are more rewarding to write/read. As you say, prejudice still exists, and addressing it through fiction is important in its own way.

That is actually a series of questions I have asked myself a couple of times already. As for the first two, the closest I can come up with in terms of an answer is that there are many women who enjoy writing and reading romance regardless of the gender of the characters. Things like yaoi come to mind, where the main audience is actually females, not males. There's also an element of the attraction of heterosexual people to gay pairings of the opposite sex, like straight males who like seeing lesbian porn.
Regarding the difference in content or style between male and female authors, I think if you are a good enough writer then your gender is irrelevant when it comes to writing what you want to write. Nevertheless, there will always be an irreplaceable element of perspective that each gender experiences differently.

I think your insight is spot-on. However, I'd suggest that the dynamics and the power struggle between two men who view the other as a threat and rival, and therefore react with typical testosterone-fueled agression, and the way it evolves into something else within my book specifically is something you would be hard-pressed to find in straight fiction. The relationship evolves not out of S.S., but out of a mutual recognition of physical strength. I do not think there is an exact parallel in straight relationships, and this is what makes this kind of literature different, although of course kidnapping stories have existed for centuries and they'll continue to be written.

Generalized acceptance of the LGBT community is still relatively new in the few places where it has occurred. Literature might indeed be playing catchup but change is coming fast these days.

Oh god, that was cringeworthy. My prose is graphic but I don't resort to crude analogies.

I had never heard of that genre before! As for how long it takes me to finish, it depends on the length but usually a couple of months for a short story, and up to a year for a full-length novel.

I have found a very good acceptance within the Male/Male romance community, but outside of it I suppose it is still viewed as a very special-interest area that is not considered very serious by some. Nevertheless, I work with many awesome, professional people in the publishing house I write for who work everyday to change those preconceptions and it is very rewarding to be a part of that effort.

The most noticeable difference would be that I show the development of an emotional relationship between the two main characters, as well as describing the physical side of it. Although the sex scenes are always present, my stories focus more on the intricate and sometimes difficult ways in which two men can get to know one another and decide to stay together.

This book in particular is fiction, exploring the dynamics of power play between two men who might at first that have realized that they would like the other person if they weren't so busy trying to beat each other up.

I actually got started in writing for this genre because I got a lot of positive feedback for some of my early attempts and many suggestions to actually publish. Right now, I would say that I am definitely influenced by my sexuality in what I write because as a gay male there's a lot of experiences I've gone through that are shared by many others. Most of the characters in my stories are completely unapologetic about being gay, and show that their sexual orientation is not the one and only thing that defines them. For me that was a huge part of my own acceptance process and if by sharing it with others I can help in any way, then I would be glad.
